From the readout your average was 40 mph. No clue what I would get if I averaged 40 mph over 165 km (approx. 100 miles). Huh

Looks like the day was 419 Km. The 165 Km appears to be range to empty.
There's at least 10 towns on the route to drop his average speed.

Hahaha ... Darrell is not that slow, and I follow him all the time on our Ride Ins, but I get the point. Big Grin I have seen him hit 65 fairly often and even as high as 75 once.

75? as in miles per hour? I don't believe it

I know right ... shocked me at the time too. Big Grin Darrell knows what he is doing, I have no doubt.

Darrell has been riding well for longer than I have been riding. I only give him shit because I know he can take it. He dishes it right back.

Fuel Mileage - Ray - 08-17-2020

Bruce is right - some of my best mileage has occurred without luggage following Darrell at 10 mph over the speed limit and one gear higher than I would usually use. Of course, Mrvvrroomm is also one of the only riders good enough to get away with saying so.

Can you say 'sandbagging?" We know that behind the self-deprecation and well practiced group leadership, paced to the safety of the slowest rider, Darrell's a world class athlete and lifelong student of speed and bike handling. I mean, his veiled competitive side would probably still be happy to kick some of our asses time trialing on the track (at 28 miles/gal - to stay on theme for the thread...).

(And refresh my memory. How fast was he cruising on the two lane when he blew out the front end of his driveshaft? I believe he safely runs a little faster without others in tow.)

Ray I agree with you 100%. Big Grin

I have to agree with you too Ray.

Darrell took a group of us on a nice ride through southern Missouri one year and I thoroughly enjoyed the pace and the scenery. Wink
