WTB 2016 r1200rs sport seat - azqkr - 01-10-2021

What ya got laying around?

I'm running the stock seat, but the sport seat has more padding from the pictures/descriptions.

Thanks in advance

If you can't find one from the forum, Revzilla has them available.

But not in their stock, "requires 1 to 2 weeks before delivery". That might be ok for you. Or you might try the local BMW dealer, but again, they, too, might 1 to 2 weeks......

I have the standard and low seats. What's the difference in the"sport" seat??

Don't know the exact height differences but it's the tallest and flattest of all the OEM options offered. If you open BMW's bike builder and change seat options it'll change what the seat looks like on the bike for comparison.

According to the Bike-Builder, it provides a 0.8" increase over stock, and it's more narrower and more "crowned," in addition to being flatter, as Craig pointed out. So, nearly an inch (+/-), but, because of the shape, it also changes "leg angle" or some such term.

It also firmer than the standard seat so the height difference feels greater than 0.8 Inches.

Search "Mr. 36654" and "sport seat" over on the other forum for pictures. The sport seat changes the ride significantly.

Looks like I'll be in the market for one of these as well. Probably have to cough up MSRP. Ack.

Are you cookin' up a deal?

RE: WTB 2016 r1200rs sport seat - Pyrrho - 04-21-2022

I take that back -- sport seats are in stock at the BMW warehouse in PA. I'm having the dealer fit it before shipping the bike to me but that means i'll have a standard seat for sale if anyone is interested.

Craig, best to verify that you will also get the standard seat. The MAX BMW dealer here tried to keep the standard seat when I also ordered the low seat (and paid the additional $$ for it in the price) when I purchased my '18 RT from them.

I specifically asked if I could swap and they said no, but that I could order a sport seat and then sell the standard seat... so I took that to assume I'd be getting the standard? But I'll ask based on your recommendation. Thanks!

Craig, based upon their statement that you could sell the standard seat I'd think you get both but best to be certain no doubt.

RE: WTB 2016 r1200rs sport seat - 36654 - 04-22-2022

I would get both seats. The sport seat is a unique beast. Some folks love it, others find it painful on the wrists or the hips. I traded my standard high seat to a really skinny 6' ~ 6'-1" guy that hated his sport seat. He said it placed to much weight on his wrists.

For me, the sport seat is fun for a ride thru the twisties, but long rides are painful for my hips. There's minimal lateral support.
