Arkansas day ride - Chris216 - 07-02-2021

Did a back roads loop down into Arkansas today. Pretty good ride although a lot of traffic even on the back roads (4th of July weekend, what did I expect?Tongue) Stopped for lunch at the Cliff House.

Great view from my table

and a nice country fried steak for lunch.

All in all had a great ride.
Chris

Thanks for the pics.
Surprised the roads were busy, we usually have them to ourselves except hwy 7 on weekends. I figured July would would be a slow time even with the holiday.

Checked your weather and see it was cooler down there than Iowa.
Debbie and I went to the Goodguys Heartland Nationals at the Iowa State Fairgrounds today and it was in the low to mid 90s.
Watched some autocross while we were there and Debbie was eating that up.
First time for us to watch autocross and was surprised at the serious cars used in this event.

Lee, nice shots of the autocross, I've always loved the C2 Vettes. I had hoped that the Friday before the weekend would be quiet traffic wise. But even the back roads that are usually deserted had a fair amount of traffic (for the area).

Speaking of Vettes here is one I came across while camping this week in Johnson City Texas. Unfortunately it is in a glass case so the photo is not so good. Maybe some of you might know where this was taken ... I already gave a clue in this post.

Very nice. I had lunch there a few years back during a Ride In in Arkansas. View are stunning.

Nice. Would have been much nicer if it was outside. I think that they are still getting back up to steam aster probably being shut down for Covid. The Texas White House was closed to the public also. The cattle were largely not there free roaming though, and that was a huge disappointment. Have to go back.

Great place to visit since I am a fan.

If you stay there the deck is a nice place to relax and take in the view.

The upper level is the restaurant, middle level is the rooms and lowest level is the deck.

Looks quite familiar! This ended up being (unexpected) destination 2 of the Gunnison trip, for Kent and I. Destination 1 riding was cut short due to that crazy blizzard. Hauling the bikes gave us the option of moving on, and Darrell suggested hitting the Ozark’s as we headed back towards the East Coast.
We ate in the restaurant (great view) and were entertained by the hummingbirds on the porch area.
I thought the sign in the parking lot was a bit of a stretch, lol.
We helped a guy load up his custom Harley on a trailer, after it broke down , and he gave me a map of the area. It’s now a permanent souvenir in my tank bag.
What a great trip![Image: 5f852de9f38f93c63284b30b727ab5d2.jpg]
