Greeetings From KC! - ESquared - 10-24-2021

Hello, everyone! Have been in and out of motorcycling since my new, 1973 Honda CB360, which I thought was the coolest thing ever at the time. Nearly 25 years later, it was another Honda, the Shadow 750, then a Valkyrie, then a Wing. The Wing went away in 2010, then, 2 years ago, I wandered into the shallow end with a new Vespa, which was basically a gateway bike that led to a total of 3 Triumphs in 2 years (not all at once). Have just initiated a trade of my T120Black for a 2022 Imperial Blue RS, birthdate TBD.
Have done a ton of research, am very much looking forward to this new moto experience and am so glad I found this site.
Look forward to digging in and soaking up your stories, suggestions and explanations.

Welcome to the cul... err, I mean enthusiasts' forum! What options did you order for it?

I think I ticked most of the typical boxes, but the BMW spec sheet breaks it all down into smaller "packages" than is typically marketed. But, "Select Pkg," with DTC (the cause of most of the production delays, according to the Bulletin we were reading at the shop on Saturday), etc.
Another Bulletin item is that the Chrome exhaust is being discontinued once production starts back up, to be replaced with something in the "brushed titanium" family (there was a code #, I think, but it meant nothing to me).
I added the Sport Seat (I'm 6'4", 34" inseam) and rear rack, as well, but that's about it for factory add-ons. I'll use the rear rack for some sort of tail bag (not a top-case guy, I guess), and I'm still pondering saddlebags. The SHAD set-up looks pretty slick, but I haven't ruled out the BMW route. Any thoughts would be welcome, but they totally change the look of the bike so much that it seems unlikely that they'd be on all the time.
Will add risers and a footpeg relo kit of some sort, and I'm all ears on what you wise folks have to say based on your experiences. Just trying to "relax the triangle."
I'm also studying windscreens, but I've come across another owner who is my exact height who seems totally satisfied with the stock screen, and he's covered a LOT of miles in a short time. Will just ride it and see when it comes to this one.
Still quite a bit to figure out, now that I write it all down!

Welcome to the Forum Community. That was a varied collection of bikes you had ... even a Vespa scooter! Smile

I think that you will find the boxer to be a completely different machine with a character all its own. It will likely be a keeper in your garage as it is in mine.

There's a base package and select package.
Before the ESA shortage there was premium package and base.
When we ordered ours about the only options we could pick after Premium was the luggage rack and Sport Seat.
Could could pick options like 719 wheels and levers.

If you ordered from KC Peter can give you the VIN and container number.
I think he gets the VIN when it goes to production and he can see the container number after production.

Here's a copy of a post I made earlier on how to track the bike.

Order and Shipping Details
Ordered two 2022 R1250RS bikes mid Aug 2021
Built in Berlin Aug 24th and 25th
Dealer emailed me the VIN numbers and the shipping container number.
Bikes arrived at the Bremerhaven Germany docks Sep 7th
I think I got the name of the ship by googling the container number.
The container shipping company was https://www.hamburgsud-line.com/line...ces/index.html
I used a Marine Traffic site to follow the ship and see it docked. https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-33.5/centery:30.6/zoom:3
Loaded on ship (MSC Marina) Sep 17
Ship departed Germany Sep 18th
I was able to follow the ship as it left Germany and through the English Channel. I could see the ship location and speed as long it was within 60 miles of land.
When I thought it should be close to the US I paid a one time fee of $0.99 to track the ship by satellite. I saw it was close to Canada and a couple days later I could see it again near Cape Cod on the Marine Traffic site.
The ship arrived at the New York dock without any delays off shore on Sep 28. On the Marine Traffic site I could see the ship was at a dock.
Unloaded from ship Sep 29th
The container tracking site had no new info for a few days
Oct 4 a local trucking company picked up the container and I could now see it on the DHL site https://dhli.dhl.com/dhli-client/publicTracking?1
On the DHL site I select Customer Ref Number and entered the last 7 digits of the VIN (Use Caps)
Same day, Oct 4 the container arrived at the distribution center, Easton, Pa.
The container was unloaded and on Oct 5 our bikes are on a truck headed to Kansas City.
ETA for arriving in KC is Monday Oct 11th.
Tracking info showed the bikes were flown to KC.
Looks like seven weeks from production to delivery at the dealer.
I’ll update this when they arrives at Engle Motors.

The bikes arrived at the shop on Oct 12. We stopped at the shop that day on our way to Arkansas and saw the bikes unloaded.
We'll ride to KC today and do the trade tomorrow.

Wow. That was some tracking effort Lee. You’d make a great detective.

Very cool recap, Lee, thanks for sharing! Peter can't get me a VIN as there is currently no production going on due to the DTC shortage. I've been stalking your trade-ins, as it's the closest thing that Engle will have to allow me a test ride of any kind of RS around right now!
I spied your new bikes on Saturday and they're beautiful!
Look forward to test-riding one of your trades this Saturday!
Congrats!

I thought it was interesting to track the container ship.

Welcome ESquared. You'll love your boxer RS. It's an awesome ride. Shift assist pro functions so well I hardly ever use the clutch while in motion.
