Handlebar Swap - ESquared - 10-31-2021

I'm starting this here instead of over in "Accessories," because it seems to cross over from a cosmetic add-on or tweak. I've read about it "out there," but haven't seen it mentioned here, but it strikes me as about as aggressive as you can get when it comes to relaxing the triangle where the bars are concerned:

https://www.wunderlichamerica.com/handlebar-conversion-bmw-r1200-rs.html

"Changes from stock bar position: 2.25" Wider x 2.75" Higher x 1.25" Back"

Not only that, the various owner endorsements I've read speak of enhanced handling, especially at lower speeds. Seems like a win/win.

Anybody here have any experience with this swap, or know a guy who knows a guy...?

This, plus the Suburban Machinery peg lowering kit (1.25" down/0.4" forward) is about as relaxed as I can make it, based on my research.

Even to a "motorcycle guy," these changes are nearly imperceptible, but it's amazing the ingenuity that's gone into making this machine easier to enjoy!

You can also use the R1200R bars.
I don't know how they compare to the Wonderlich bars.

I'm going to check in with the Engle guys this week and see if they have any experience with either option (Wunderlich vs. R-bars). I'd be surprised if they don't.

In 2016 when we bought the R1200 bikes Adam asked if we would want R bars. At that time they had done the swap on one RS.

No surprise there, huh? I'll be interested to see how many more they can collectively remember since then.

+ 1 for the Wunderlich bars. The silver ones are a dead match in color and texture so they look factory. My poor old back is grateful for the more upright posture I prefer. Now about that seat....

+ 1 making the bike comfortable for you.
