Hi Rolleyes

New on the forum.
Going to buy a 2021 R1250RS.
Looking for handguards that fits this model. It has the intelligent SOS system with button on handlebar.
Found only one from Wunderlich with mouting kit that fits. But dont like this.

Welcome to the forum.
Here's pictures of the Barkbusters on another member's bike.
I don't have a picture of the throttle side where the SOS button is located.

Hi
Thanks Smile
Does this on vibrate when driving in high speed since it is single mounted ?
Not that I’ve noticed. It’s a pretty solid mount, even though only one attachment point

While at the recent BMWMOA National Rally in Virginia I mentioned to the Barkbuster rep I thought the 50 mm bolts supplied with single point mount kit were too short for the BMW RS models.  Mentioned I thought they should have a been 60 mm.

They requested I follow up with them with some photos and a note and they would look in to.  A couple weeks after sending them the information they confirmed the RS should be using a 60 mm bolt.

Last week in the mail got a package with two 60 mm bolts and a nice note saying thanks for bringing to their attention.

Installed and now instead of just 3 threads holding the guards on have 3 threads and 10 additional mm.

I'm amazed that their engineering people allowed the kit to be shipped with bolts that only allowed 3 threads of engagement in the first place. Handguards are lever protectors in addition to wind blockers and so they are expected to take a hit if the bike is dropped. With 3 threads (or 3 mm) engaged, the threaded joint is not strong and if the bolt walks back then there is no joint at all.

Glad to hear there is now sensible thread engagement - thanks for posting this.

Wunderlich Wrote:Note for R 1200 RS LC and R 1250 RS:

First, note that these hand guards cannot be installed on the OE Cast Handlebars. Tube-style handlebars are required, suggested solution: 31000501-502 (Handlebar Conversion - Tube-Style Bars)

Second, because the RS has fairing mounted rear view mirrors, you will need a mounting kit for the handlebar controls:
  • 27520-312 mounting kit (see Related Products below)
  • 27520-322 for models with original auxiliary headlights and SOS button (see Related Products below)
Ebay has some at a reasonable price. I bought a set for my stock cast handlebars for the 1200

I find that they do not block everything which is nice in the summer but enough for the wet and cold.

Hi,
I can't see, but do you have the SOS button? Would there be room to fit the guards on the throttle side with the button in place?
You dont happen to still have the link in your ebay history do you? It is a bit of a minefield out there when I did the search so it would be good to use a link that doesnt deliver chocolate handguards!
Thanks
I had a quick peek on Ebay. I think these are the ones. Just remember they are not armor at all but more deflectors.

Thanks! I ordered a set and think they'll work out perfectly.
