Think I would prefer the standard wheels like our for ease of cleaning.
Did you see how much the 719 wheel option cost?

Yes they stay on when the bike is started and I’m sure remain on when riding but guessing on that. I do think they are overwhelmed by the headlight so not sure how much another driver could see them especially during the day.

I looked the USA BMW site you mentioned and it shows both the Exclusive and Sport models with silver fork tubes. Both bikes at the dealer had the same gold colored forks we have on our Lupin R1200RS models.

I’m getting a major service and new tires on my bike on Thursday at a different dealer than where I rode the R1250RS and they have an Exclusive so even if I don’t get to ride that one I can at least verify the lights again.

The manager told me the additional cost of the 719 wheels was $1000 and can be ordered on any of the models. He also told me he placed an order this week for $10,000 of options for the RS model so they had in the dealership to show buyers.

Thanks for the report on your test ride, Darrell. I had a feeling that you'd reach the conclusion you have.

Thanks Wayne. Looks like with the test ride results I’ll see an odometer with 6 digits before the decimal point on the R1200RS.

I don't doubt. Big Grin You are almost there anyway. Even my bike has just over 40k miles.

You'll see stock photos both ways.
Gold fork tubes means ESA and silver fork tubes means the bike does not have ESA.

Was at the dealer today getting a major service, new Dunlop tires on the bike and the front wheel RDC sensor replaced as was working intermittently the last 3000 miles. Took a photo of the spec sheet hanging on the yellow sport bike.[attachment=202]

Thanks for your review Darrell. After the Continental Divide adventure, How many miles do you have on your RS now? Oh by the way, You haven't posted all of the pics from that trip, Have you?

I do need to write a recap of the 7265 mile ride, post some photos and the listing to the 67 roads. Most of the photos are of the 67 paved roads top spots where the continental divide crosses them. I did ride to the top of each road and completely over on many. I just haven't taken the time to do it. The bike turned over 90,000 miles my last day coming home from the 27 day trip. 6 of those days I spent with Elizabeth in Laramie, WY and in Steamboat Springs, CO with her and her parents who live year round in Steamboat Springs, CO.

90K is quite impressive. Other than faulty RDC sensors, what other unscheduled maintenance items have you had to deal with?

RE: The new 2019 BMW R1250RS - darrell - 08-09-2019

Mike - I’m going to reply to your question in another thread called service costs at 70,000 miles. I’ll post there so we keep this thread focused on the new 2020 R1250RS.

RE: The new 2019 BMW R1250RS - Grumpy Goat - 08-10-2019

Look what I rode today. Lots of video footage to edit ... Rolleyes

Dealer had the blue one also but that sold in a week.

Gee GG, That color doesn't look too bad in your photo. Is it abad as all the internet talk in person? Or do you approve of the color?

Hehehe ... I post-processed the pictures a bit so they look better, but I am still no fan of the "mustard". Others have a different preference. Big Grin

BUT - I hate the white frame. I would take the "mustard" colour if the frame were a different / complimentary colour. For instance, the black wheels work with the yellow bike. But again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Smile

I bet it would not cost much to have the white portion of the frame wrap in black.
The matte Austin Yellow dose not look bad in person.

RE: The new 2019 BMW R1250RS - Duccrazydave - 08-14-2019

I think that color would work with a gloss clear coat. But the white frame just looks out of place on this particular bike.

RE: The new 2019 BMW R1250RS - BobAin'tStoppin' - 08-14-2019

Agree. I couldn't handle the white frame. If it ain't red, it's wrong Big Grin
