Yeah, you two have lots of experience both ways and I agree, against the car the drama of 2-up might not be worth the effort. I guess you can still keep one bike for yourself. Roll both into an R1300RS. Big Grin

Several different panel colors are probably available like the XR has.

I believe that the RS has four colors available with blue being the basic, then there is a triple black, a sport version in white w/red and blue and then the 719 option color (which I forget how to spell). All the other color I believe are extra cost.

We're taking about the painted panel on the lid of the panniers.

I'll keep one for a day ride now and then.
Probably keep Debbie's. For some reason her bike feels slightly better than mine.

R1300GS Wet Weight 523 lbs (237 kg)
R1300RS Wet Weight 540 lbs (245 kg)

R1250RS Wet Weight 536 lbs (243 kg)
R1250GS Wet Weight 549 lbs (249 kg)


According to BMW specs, the RS went from being 13 lbs lighter than the GS to 17 lbs heavier. That is a big swing. I'm not sure what is weighing the RS down, but it doesn't really fit with making the RS more sporting.

Point well taken.

All I know is that my RS is one heavy little lump. I have to push my bikes around my garage from time to time in order to squeeze them in between the car and the workshop, and all I can say is it is far easier to manhandle the larger Tiger than it is to handle the more compact RS. That contrast started with the Tracer before the Tiger.

I think the new RS looks faster at the standstill and is visually more stunning. I would guess to say maybe 10% of us here would ride it without some ergo mods. It would be nice if it had lost some weight but i see it as more or a tourer.

I must be easy to please Smile The only change I've made on my BMW bikes has been seats on 2 of my 7 BMWs.
Changed the seat on the K1300S and R1250RS. We ordered our 1250s with the Sport seat because everyone said it was better than the stock seat.
We didn't like the Sport Seat as well as the stock seat on the 1200. At least it didn't cost much when ordering with the bike.

I am even easier. I only changed the windshield. Figured that if the butt passed the test ride then the seat stays and the butt will have to get used to it. Never did get risers or footpeg lowering kit or whatever either. But then that is just me. I am cheap and it either passes muster on the test ride or I don't buy.
