I'm just the opposite. I set the route, book all lodging etc, Yep I thought I quoted Bob but it did not come out that way. RE: Updating the BMW Navigator - BobAin'tStoppin' - 05-17-2019 Using booking dot com, all my reservations are cancelable at no cost. (Except the Helen motel). This way, if there is an accident or weather issue I can change course without too much difficulty. I do appreciate the idea of being free to follow an unplanned route, but for me, it’s plan ahead. Both methods have pluses and minuses. Both methods have pluses and minuses. I also use booking.com or hotels.com and make reservations that are able to be cancelled. Matter of fact I had better do that soon. When making a reservation I like to be able to cancel same day or 24 hours ahead at no cost. The Helen cancel policy scared us off when I found out we would have to pay for all the nights if we canceled. Not unusual in a vacation area. I just looked at some of the rates for the overnight stops on the way to and from Helen and on the way up I could get a room for $55 / non-refundable or $70 free cancellation. I decided to wait until closer to departure to see what I can get, since I like the $55 rate. That Baymont cancellation policy is a bummer but I am hoping that the quality of the stay makes it all worthwhile. It sounds like a nice place. Probably best we are not making Helen. We already took a 2 week trip and I added up the number of PTO days Debbie needs to take off for trips the remainder of the year and it's 26 days. Can you cancel the day before or same day? I usually use the motel website as we can get corporate discounts at most of the chains except Best Western. RE: Updating the BMW Navigator - BobAin'tStoppin' - 05-19-2019 I think it’s usually a 24 hour before limit for cancelling. The other nice thing is that you don’t pay up front. Pay at the motel. Sorry we will miss you at Helen. RE: Updating the BMW Navigator - Lee - 05-19-2019 (05-19-2019, 05:01 AM)BobAintStoppin Wrote: I think it’s usually a 24 hour before limit for cancelling. We were visiting with a couple in Leaky Texas last month and they mentioned they had to pay when making a reservation when using one of the popular online reservation sites. I typically use hotels.com and have paid at the hotel, but I also recall paying when making the reservation also. RE: Updating the BMW Navigator - jimbob - 05-05-2022 Hey, I am considering the purchase of a Nav6 (new 2021 model) from a UK vendor. I understand it is factory loaded with the Eurpoe navi maps.. I would need to install the North American version for it to work for me.. other than the cost of buying that off the Garmin site and installing it... is there any other useful hints i might need to know about? I am a sat-nav newby. BTW i would be using it on my 2017 RS which is all prewired... RE: Updating the BMW Navigator - Motorhead1977 - 05-05-2022 IDK about the new Nav VI but my MY 2019 I got through BMW in the USA included lifetime maps. It was pricey though. |
