I take it in for service on the 6th of Aug. so I will let you know what I find out. When it was stuck at 28 how many miles did you ride and what's your guess on how much the air temperature increased while you were riding. RE: Ambient Temperature Readout - Bimmerman - 08-08-2023 Well, after taking my bike in for its first check up after break-in they could find nothing wrong with the sensor. I did notice though that when I left the dealer it was at 28ºC and I just happened to be looking down after about 7 minutes or so of riding when it shot up to 36ºC as I was looking at the display. It seems to be working fine now but on some rides takes a bit of time to show the temp. I wish though it showed increments of the temp since there is quite a bit of difference using Celsius. From what I can tell it is working now.(07-27-2023, 03:16 PM)Bimmerman Wrote: Yesterday was very hot here (34ºC) and in the morning when I first took off it was fine but then in the afternoon it was stuck at 28ºC. On our last 3 cars if you parked less than 4 or 5 hour, then started driving again the temperature readout would not up update until you drove faster than 50 mph. We don't ride in large cities, so I have no idea if the bikes act the same. RE: Ambient Temperature Readout - Bimmerman - 08-12-2023 That’s something I hadn’t considered. If it connected to going over a certain speed that would explain a lot. RE: Ambient Temperature Readout - Ray - 08-12-2023 (automotive ambient temperature monitoring systems have a programmed delay that is inversely proportional to the speed of the vehicle. ) RE: Ambient Temperature Readout - maxredline - 08-13-2023 Never had a problem with the temp sensor though I used to live in a cooler climate. Apparently global warming is not longer a thing, It's global boiling now. Get used to your present day electronics not reading correctly when the ambient temp is beyond the engineered range 8) RE: Ambient Temperature Readout - Bimmerman - 08-24-2023 One thing I think is a little disappointing is the temp readout now is only 2 digits. On my F800GT it would at least give you half a degree when in Celsius. 1degree in Celsius is say 2 or 3 degrees in Fahrenheit (just a guesstimation). I have switched my readout to Fahrenheit just to get a more accurate reading. Don't forget, the sensor itself has a tolerance +/- on accuracy anyway and it is likely more than a degree - Fahrenheit or Celsius. It doesn’t really matter. I grew up on the States but have lived in Japan where everything is metric. When it comes right down to it I can just ask Siri and get an accurate answer. I just meant in Fahrenheit you get a more accurate reading because the difference of 1 degree Fahrenheit vs 1 degree Celsius is somewhat significant. When the road is wet it's nice to know if the temp is 35F or 32F.
