None in Wisconsin do. Closest is a single bike at a dealership in another state over an hour and a half away. Even there, the pictures of it are out of focus, missing descriptions, etc. Are they even trying to sell these? You'd think BMW would see this as a problem and offer an online bike locator for potential customers looking for test rides. Total chicken-and-egg situation; BMW has the resources to address this but for whatever reason doesn't. Welcome to the dilemma of the RS ... it seems all other BMW models before the RS for some reason. And a lot of that has to do with customer perception of what the ideal bike is for them even if all they ever do is stay on the road and go maybe 100 miles per week. It is almost as if BMW wants the RS to die meanwhile pushing bikes like the R9T in all its variants, all useless to some of us ... RE: service manual options - Pyrrho - 09-10-2021 Yep, seeing and thinking the same thing. Finding more 9Ts than GSes even. I'm guessing GSes are selling well enough that it's difficult to keep them in inventory but in the few times I've seen reviewers who have directly spoken with BMW reps they say both the RS has sold the least and is expected to sell the least. Looking at BMW's marketing efforts like their BMW Motorrad YouTube channel they'll include the RS in passing mention when covering a full lineup, but they've yet to release an RS-specific video of any sort -- yet there's plenty on GSes, R18s, nineT, etc. It really does seem like there's some internal politics going on and the people responsible for the RS are being taught a lesson. Seemingly without fail, independent reviews comparing the RS to the GS admit if not going off-road the RS is a better purchase, a best if-you-only-could-have-one vs other sport-tourers, etc. I haven't been to a BMW dealer in some time but I'm imagining sales staff directing the curious to GSes, XRs, RTs or Ks without even mentioning the RS and the only way someone will see one is if they've specifically had them ordered. RE: service manual options - runnerhiker - 09-11-2021 I go to the BMW dealer in Fort Collins CO, the salesman tells me they can't get RS's (haven't had one in about a year) and they can't get as many GS's as they want although they always have some. And that they are selling all the R18's they are getting. The "reason" for any vehicle supply question today is: chip shortage. BMW has boasted of having secured relatively good chip supply so far in 2021, and has released a financial forecast of nearly doubling profitability of its Motorrad unit (4.5% in 2020, predicting 8-10% in 2021). How much of that is actual shortage vs prioritization of part availability to its highest-margin products vs using the specter of "chip shortage" to keep discounting at a minimum is anyone's guess. RE: service manual options - Motorhead1977 - 10-23-2021 Update: I took a chance and ordered a copy of the 1200RS DVD from a seller in Italy listed on eBay. Item# 151843541077 Low price: paid less than $40 USD. It arrived today and so far it's working. Granted it's not for the 1250RS but it's got lots of very useful information. RE: service manual options - Chris216 - 10-24-2021 Thanks for the report. Your DVD is obviously an illegal copy, but I thought the service DVDs required an individual license key to use. Did yours come with a key or did it "just work"? RE: service manual options - Motorhead1977 - 10-25-2021 Craig, it just worked, no product key provided. I don't believe it is updateable like the R1200RTW DVD I have but it's better than having nothing. ? Agreed & ordered my own copy. Thanks for the tip! RE: service manual options - mikemacmo - 12-03-2021 A company called software-motor has PDF copies of the original BMW manuals (on Ebay). I ordered the R1250RS one they sent me a link to download and it seems to be the real deal. No index so might take some time to find what your looking for but for $33 bucks and no way to get the real thing its the only game in town. No affiliation saw link on BMW sport touring forum. The negative remarks seem to come from people with limited computer skill. Opened for me on MacOS, iOS and Windows. RE: service manual options - Motorhead1977 - 12-03-2021 I searched for that company and could not find them. Do you have a link to the eBay pages? Thanks. Or can you do a word or topic search? If there is no indexing at all it makes life difficult. Has the vendor just maybe scanned pages and saved as PDF? RE: service manual options - Motorhead1977 - 12-04-2021 I'll know when I download my copy in a little while, but IMHO it's still better than no manual at all. ? Can you confirm that this is (more or less) the content of the BMW service manual? I'd actually contacted this exact seller on eBay before stumbling onto this post to ask: "It is not clear from the listing which manual this is exactly. Can you tell me if this is the BMW RepROM service manual, part# 01599467581?" to which I received the following detailed reply: "No" Thanks, Jacco RE: service manual options - Motorhead1977 - 12-17-2021 I have that one on my home computer and a CD version of the BMW manual (pirate copy) and will try to compare random pages later tonight or tomorrow and post. Thank you so much! Don't waste too much time on it, I'm simply trying to get some idea of what I'd be getting for my $33. I have no major maintenance plans at this point, I'm currently just looking for the correct torque specs for installing the luggage rack that I just received in the mail. It came without any installation instructions, and for some reason these instructions are also not on https://www.bmw-motorrad.com/en/service/manuals/install-manual.html. RE: service manual options - jacco - 12-17-2021 Maybe someone here knows these values? The factory luggage rack is 100% identical for the RS as for my 1250R. Or the K53/54 1200R/RS for that matter.
