RE: Headed To Gunnison - Lee - 07-16-2020 Colorado does a good job of most people wearing masks and keeping distances. RE: Headed To Gunnison - Grumpy Goat - 07-16-2020 That is good to know. RE: Headed To Gunnison - Olgry1 - 07-17-2020 Beautiful scenery Lee. I have never seen your RSs dirty dirty before. I was shocked RE: Headed To Gunnison - Lee - 07-17-2020 (07-17-2020, 05:06 AM)Olgry1 Wrote: Beautiful scenery Lee. I wipe off the muffler and painted parts but they are not up to my standards Two days ago we saw a Lupin RS when we were coming into Lake City. Also saw a yellow RS a few days back. RE: Headed To Gunnison - Lee - 07-17-2020 Tough day , 100 mile round trip to Cottonwood pass for a picture The parking area was overflowing both times we were on the pass. A little cat nap after ice cream at Almont. RE: Headed To Gunnison - Lee - 07-17-2020 Common octane choices for states like Colorado with higher elevations. RE: Headed To Gunnison - Lee - 07-18-2020 Nice roads today. The pass is on hwy 12 NW of Trinidad. RE: Headed To Gunnison - Lee - 07-18-2020 Great Sand Dunes NP The pass is on hwy 12 NW of Trinidad. Any altitude sickness, any blood pressure problems? I ask this because I was watching a YouTube video today by a pair of RVers who were forced to move from their camping location at 10,500 ft down to 7,500 ft since the wife's blood pressure was elevated as soon as they arrived there and would not go down for days, until after they descended. Admittedly she has chronic hypertension and is on meds, as am I. Her husband who does not have hypertension was finding breathing more laborious, as did the wife. RE: Headed To Gunnison - BobAin'tStoppin' - 07-20-2020 Gunnison is at 7700 feet. You should have no issues there. When you get over 10,000 you'll notice the shortness of breath etc. Don't really know about blood pressure. RE: Headed To Gunnison - Lee - 07-20-2020 Debbie and I have never had a problem with altitude sickness. I'll get short of breath when walking fast or walking up a steep trail above 12,000 feet. I have high blood pressure. No idea if my blood pressure goes up when above 10,000 feet. RE: Headed To Gunnison - runnerhiker - 07-20-2020 You'll be ok, I've never had any problems doing normal activities at elevations. I've had altitude sickness, so I know what it feels like, but I was at 12000 feet carrying a 50 lb backpack, and quickly recovered when I got down to 10000 feet. I also take blood pressure meds and riding in the mountains does not bother me at all - the duration is not long enough and the exertion is not hard enough. I have been as high as 7500 ft on the BRP and had no issues at all. In the video I watched, it seems that the woman even with meds had fairly high diastolic numbers as normal. Your feedback and the others above have addressed my concerns, especially since I am not the only one taking meds (and I also use a CPAP). I don't expect to be doing a lot of walking around at 12,000 ft. RE: Headed To Gunnison - Lee - 07-20-2020 (07-20-2020, 12:36 PM)Grumpy Goat Wrote: Thanks Lee. That too is encouraging. If you decide to ride up Mt Evans the road tops out around 14,000 feet. RE: Headed To Gunnison - Lee - 07-20-2020 Arrived home today. |
