Like MrV said, they look the same color as on the Lupin. Unlike MrV, I would not have preferred black wheels. Most of the time, I don't like black wheels, it makes the bike look more dark than I like. I like the new F900 with light colored wheels, for instance. RE: 2020 R1250RS tomorrow! - runnerhiker - 11-10-2020 This F900R is Black Storm Metallic like my RS, with light colored wheels. My white bike has black wheels and I like them a lot. But black wheels on your black bike might be too much black so you might be right. The problem with gloss black wheels is the back wheel starts to look dirty by the yime you reach the end of the driveway. I like how the color of our RS wheels do not show dirt on a long trip. The silver wheels on our K1200RS, K75 bikes and R100RT would start to look dirty on the 2nd day of a trip and really look a mess after a rain. RE: 2020 R1250RS tomorrow! - Duckbubbles - 11-13-2020 I am also not a fan of black/dark wheels on bikes or cars. The dark gray on our bikes have grown on me since they do not show how dirty they really are. Nothing more depressing than a dirty black bike. Ron - you're a good man and set a good example. 2020 R1250RS tomorrow! - Duccrazydave - 11-14-2020 Ah, the social responsibility. Good term for the pressure to present yourself in a respectable manner, when tooling around in a gloss black vehicle. My first car, a ‘65 Impala Sport Coupe and my first street bike, an ‘82 LTD1000 Kawasaki were both black. Great fun keeping the car clean in the Spring (pollen), or after a good rain, or a good snow (salt), or... Ignore me - That’s a sweet looking ride Ron! Your beautiful new bike looks even sharper! And the black bike is beautiful, if a tad harder to keep clean. Mike seems to do alright ... Ray, at my age, I think of social responsibilities as things for younger men. I am trying to convince myself that I won't be a slave to keeping a gloss black bike looking clean. Time will tell how that works out. There is a fair amount of farmland around me, I live in rural Boulder County, not in the city. Not many trees and it's windy often. My garage can get dusty even when the garage door is closed, I guess it's time to buy Plexus in bulk. I have owned several black cars and one black bike in the past. Yes, black is the most difficult colour for a vehicle when it comes to keeping it clean and the pain in good condition (which doesn't only mean washing). Next behind black is red. I have not had a vehicle that shows its dirt as much as my RS. Slightest bit of wetness on the road and there are spots all over, and that goes for the grey rims as well. The white bike / black rims has never seen damp, except for the occasional water on the road from sprinklers, but that bike seems to resist spots better - even on the black rims! That said I wash my bike only when the spots or dust get to be noticeable and it it is to a point where it bugs me. With this pandemic and the reduced riding (once per week and only in good weather) it could be weeks (months?) between washes. I recently discovered Plexus and I like it. Seems to do a decent job of keeping the plastics clean and slippery so that dust and bug-splat are easily removed. Best of all, my wife loves how it makes the garage smell (as opposed to the smell of chain cleaner). Our house is five blocks from crop-ground and Debbie's car really gets dusty at work. I like this quick detailer better than others and it's cheaper than most. It has the added benefit of melting bugs. https://smile.amazon.com/Waterless-Ounces-Aircraft-Motorcycle-Anywhere/dp/B00X04JRMU/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia-wc-p13n1_0?crid=3OJM1STB2X3RJ&cv_ct_cx=wash+wax+all&dchild=1&keywords=wash+wax+all&pd_rd_i=B00X04JRMU&pd_rd_r=0241f2cf-4b1d-44bb-88f9-6c65854b40ef&pd_rd_w=7DLWK&pd_rd_wg=qddre&pf_rd_p=1835a2a9-7ed8-48dc-ad07-fcd7527bd2bc&pf_rd_r=EBMZ57Y25SZG2HF31F8E&psc=1&qid=1605452927&sprefix=wash+wax%2Caps%2C289&sr=1-1-80ba0e26-a1cd-4e7b-87a0-a2ffae3a273c 2020 R1250RS tomorrow! - Upinsmoke - 12-01-2020 (11-15-2020, 09:14 AM)Lee Wrote:(11-15-2020, 12:36 AM)runnerhiker Wrote: There is a fair amount of farmland around me, I live in rural Boulder County, not in the city. I’ve yet to wash mine since I got it but for the tank and fender that works wonders Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: 2020 R1250RS tomorrow! - fr8dogjoe - 12-02-2020 Congratulations on the new bike. Black is a beautiful color. You will enjoy many miles of riding. RE: 2020 R1250RS tomorrow! - Chris216 - 12-03-2020 I discovered a good alternative to Plexus (MUCH cheaper!), Honda spray cleaner and polish. I still use Plexus on my face shield though. https://www.amazon.com/Honda-08732-SCP00x3-Spray-Cleaner-Polish/dp/B01LY6KI73/ref=sr_1_1?crid=OOSORERDVCNW&dchild=1&keywords=honda+spray+cleaner+and+polish&qid= Chris RE: 2020 R1250RS tomorrow! - Grumpy Goat - 12-03-2020 Good tip. I'm thinking I'll use Board Computer to reset values at each gas stop and leave Trip Computer to record things for the entire trip. I'm thinking Board Computer will be like Trip One on the R1200 and Trip Computer will be like Trip 2 on the R1200. Will that work? In the past I used the GPS to reset values at gas stops but this does not seem to work well with the TFT. RE: 2020 R1250RS tomorrow! - runnerhiker - 11-01-2021 (11-01-2021, 09:31 AM)Lee Wrote: I'm thinking I'll use Board Computer to reset values at each gas stop and leave Trip Computer to record things for the entire trip. I think you'll have to adjust your thinking. The 1200 had 3 trip meters: 1, 2, auto. Auto reset everyday. The 1250 has only 2 trip meters:1 (on board) and 2 (trip). It's easier for me to remember 1 & 2 than to remember "board" and "trip". 1 you reset manually, 2 resets automatically every day (default, but can be changed). You can't use the GPS to reset values at gas stops, you'll have to use the left handlebar function button and wonder wheel. Like you are considering, I reset Trip 1 when I fill with gas. The TFT, function button, wonder wheel has to be used. You can reset all values on this screen with one press of the wheel, or you can reset only individual values one by one. I reset this entire screen every time I get gas. I like it, it works well, with the TFT you have how many miles since refilling, plus, how much time riding and not riding since refilling, When you are on the bike all day, this is convenient. The default for Trip 2 is to auto reset every day, you can change the default so you manually reset it, and then you could use this for the entire trip. But I am going to suggest that you don't do that, leave it in default mode and let it reset every morning. One of the values on this screen is what time you got started that morning, I find that helpful. I also find helpful to have total miles for the day, total riding time for the day, and total break time for the day, and avg mpg and mph for the day. I usually take a picture of this screen at the motel at the end of the day. I would suggest that for your overall trip, that you use the GPS Trip Computer with Trip A and Trip B. Reset this when you begin your trip and forget it until you get back home. Summary: use the TFT for everyday and the GPS for total trip. |
