RE: New Tires Being Installed on the RS - mspratz - 10-28-2020 Dunlop RoadSmart 4 tires are now on sale from RevZilla, about $70 off for the pair. RE: New Tires Being Installed on the RS - Lee - 11-10-2020 Called my tire guy in Des Moines today and ordered two sets of Roadsmart 3 tires. $229 a set. With sales tax and the rebate the price is $185 a set. Can't go wrong with that. Great price. Wow, great price on a great tire. New Tires Being Installed on the RS - Duccrazydave - 11-10-2020 Sweet! Especially since you’re buying 2 sets Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: New Tires Being Installed on the RS - Lee - 11-11-2020 (11-10-2020, 04:26 PM)Duccrazydave Wrote: Sweet! Especially since you’re buying 2 sets Debbie mentioned maybe we should buy 4 sets. Without the install part of the rebate the price would be $205 for the spare set. If the price is the same in the spring and they have the rebate I may buy two sets to mount later in the year. RE: New Tires Being Installed on the RS - Lee - 11-18-2020 Headed to Des Moines tomorrow for new Roadsmart 3s. Good thing it's going to be warm since I'll need to sit outside while I wait for the install. My tire is probabably good for 10,000 miles but I changed early because of the chep prices now on the Roadsmart 3 plus I like to change early since the rain always seems to find us. I had 3/32" thread depth on mine. It started with 8/32" Debbie had 2/32" thread depth. Forgot to look at the bike mileage before posting. I think I have approx 49,000 miles and Debbie around 47.000. Front pads look good with 4 mm of pad thickness. I think that's what the rear Carbone Loraine pads had new. Our bikes usually sit for a day when doing a tire change so I like to place a shim between the pads in case I bump the brake lever. I have the feeling I'm going to get a little flax for the dirty front fender ![]() RE: New Tires Being Installed on the RS - Chris216 - 11-19-2020 I like the symmetry you have with the 2 bikes. I think all the dirt from everywhere else ended up inside that front fender ... ![]() RE: New Tires Being Installed on the RS - AlanM - 12-06-2020 Have just installed Avon Spirit ST tyres om my 1250 at 6450 miles. The bike came with Metzler Z8 but I was never fully happy with them having used Dunlop RoadSmart 3 on the 1200RS. But got a punchure in rear losing 1.5psi a day so had to change earlier than Planned. I have gone for Avons as the latest Dunlops RS4 are not yet available plus the Avons are £50 less fitted at main BMW dealer than I paid for RS3 20 months ago. Talking to Avon users at my local biker cafe nobody had anything but praise for Avons. I was happy on greasy wet roads riding the 40 miles home as a start. Will give you all an up-date when roads warm and dry. Plus when out of Lockdowns so we can ride more than a couple of miles. AlanM RE: New Tires Being Installed on the RS - Grumpy Goat - 12-06-2020 Looks like a good tire and available in the US as well. Looking forward to your further feedback. Received my first $60 rebate today. They estimated 8 to 10 weeks but it only took 4 weeks. I requested the 2nd rebate five days after the first one and when I checked the status I see the card is in the mail. RE: New Tires Being Installed on the RS - Lee - 12-21-2020 The 2nd $60 rebate card arrived today. $120 for a couple minutes on the computer is not bad ![]() RE: New Tires Being Installed on the RS - Olgry1 - 12-21-2020 Lee, I will pm you my Christmas list so you know what to get me. ![]() RE: New Tires Being Installed on the RS - darrell - 12-21-2020 (12-21-2020, 02:33 PM)Olgry1 Wrote: Lee, I will pm you my Christmas list so you know what to get me.Make sure you get something without leaking calipers. Said they were amazing. I don't know; Morton's put on Dunlop Q3s on my old K1300S and it was a religious experience. I'm not a wear-em-down-to-the-cords rider, just the opposite, so my mission is to wear out whatever the heck BMW put on my bike until I can justify the Q3s. Still, Stewart insists the Roadsmarts IV are just as good... RE: New Tires Being Installed on the RS - Duccrazydave - 01-03-2021 Any reason to go to VIR is a good enough one for me ![]() |
