Fun with the state police - BHF - 10-15-2023 So I used to drag race motorcycles back in the day. Bandimere speedway is closing so I wanted to go one last time. The state police sponsor the Wednesday night test and tune and show up with a bike and a car. So one run I lined up with the cop and his RT 1250. My RS on my first run in 20 years ran a 12.168 @ 114 to his 12.699 @ 105. (Remember we are a mile high in altitude) Great fun. The RS comes off the line HARD, but tails off on top end. With a little practice I’m sure I could have gotten into the 11s but I really don’t need to drag race anymore. It’s not what I’m interested in these days. I much prefer to be on a road course. But if for some reason you ever wanted to know if your RS would outrun the cops RT, it will quite easily. Not something I would recommend on public roads though. RE: Fun with the state police - Ray - 10-15-2023 Many thanks. I like the image. Nice showing. We're not outrunning the RT-P by a whole lot. 0.5 seconds at 105 mph - about 25 yards. Should I assume the RT-P was not carrying panniers? RE: Fun with the state police - BHF - 10-15-2023 The police bike was fully loaded. The officer was in full gear as well. He said 700 pounds plus him. It was a fun night and the bike cop was a nice guy. It was a great program with the cops engaging with the public. RE: Fun with the state police - Ray - 10-15-2023 Wow! (I'm assuming you were panniers off.) Always impressed with the capabilities of the highway patrol riders I've met. |
