ALL BALLS FORK AND DUST SEAL KIT - NO. 56-18 - Luma46 - 10-19-2023 Just curious if anyone replaced D-ESA fork seals with the ALL BALLS FORK AND DUST SEAL KIT - NO. 56-187. They say that it is compatible with R1200R/RS (and few others) but cannot confirm if it fits both ESA and non-ESA suspension. BMW has different part #s for the two suspensions seal sets. RE: ALL BALLS FORK AND DUST SEAL KIT - NO. 56-18 - 36654 - 10-19-2023 SKF has an available kit, but costs ~$40(US) per leg. Yeah, here in Canada the SKF is about 2.5 times the cost of All Balls, which are supposed to be very good. RE: ALL BALLS FORK AND DUST SEAL KIT - NO. 56-18 - Grumpy Goat - 10-19-2023 For a BMW I would not skimp on the SKF. Never heard of All Balls ... SKF is also popular with Triumph owners. RE: ALL BALLS FORK AND DUST SEAL KIT - NO. 56-18 - Luma46 - 10-19-2023 The thing is that I don’t even have leaking fork seals… I just keep deliberating if I should replace the fork bushings (and seals) rather soon or sometimes later. When on center stand and front forks fully extended, (front wheel off the ground), I can definitely feel some free play on lower tubes, especially the right one. However with some load of front wheel, either just pushing forward and back with front brake applied, I can’t feel/hear anything. As well when riding over bumps I don’t feel/hear any clunks. Bike has 51k kms, fork oil replaced 15k kms ago, no leaks on seals. Any thoughts? RE: ALL BALLS FORK AND DUST SEAL KIT - NO. 56-18 - Grumpy Goat - 10-19-2023 I’d get the seals and keep them until needed. Sounds like the bike is just fine at the moment. RE: ALL BALLS FORK AND DUST SEAL KIT - NO. 56-18 - Luma46 - 10-20-2023 If anyone is interested, I finally got an answer regarding All Balls fork seals. i have seen several reviews of their good quality, two forks kit is in Canada just over C$ 50. Thank you for contacting us! I do apologize for the delay in response! To answer your question, the 56-187 kit contains the oil seals 55-156 and dust seals 57-170. The 56-187 should work for your D-ESA suspension. Please let me know if you have any further questions or need anything else. Thanks! My shop says...........Do the fork service when the seals fail RE: ALL BALLS FORK AND DUST SEAL KIT - NO. 56-18 - maxredline - 10-20-2023 I have used All Balls parts in the past on various bikes with no problems RE: ALL BALLS FORK AND DUST SEAL KIT - NO. 56-18 - Luma46 - 10-21-2023 (10-20-2023, 07:18 PM)36654 Wrote:(10-19-2023, 05:15 PM)Grumpy Goat Wrote: I’d get the seals and keep them until needed. RE: ALL BALLS FORK AND DUST SEAL KIT - NO. 56-18 - 36654 - 10-21-2023 I was considering the option of upgrading the cartridge when the seals fail. |
