New to the Boxer family - af1-windy - 12-11-2023 Hello people (Boys, Girls, men, women, anyone in between or on the fringes ) Gotta be soooo, careful nowadays. I suppose I should say hello bikers.. be a tad easier Would you mind if I joined in? Living in Yorkshire, England.. Cos Ya'll are over the pond, you may recognise part of me user name, the af1, which is AF1 Aprilia in Texas. I've been a member of their forum since 2004 when I bough my first aprilia, a Gen1 Tuono. Such a great site, like a big family, I can't tear myself away, even though I had my last aprilia back in 2010. So, here I am. Biking since 1972 as a junior scrambler (motoX now) first bike on the road in 1978 was a Kawa KH100, had a ton of stuff since then. Fast forward to 2 years back and my first BMW, a 2017 s1000xr, love it, still in the garage but may sell next year. Now on a 2017 rs and loving it. Plan on doing a lot more 2 up touring as the other half (partner) has agreed to go on a Euro tour for the first time. I thought the xr might scare the bajeezus out of her so the rs it is. Equally as much fun, plenty fast enough but less frantic than the xr. This is the bike, you may notice a few changes Bars, mirrors, lower pegs and Givi luggage rack. New seat cover and what you can't see in this photo is, that I have re located the Sat Nav. I thought it needed more colour so I have had the wheels powder coated, new tyres being fitted tomorrow and I get the front and rear suspension back from having them serviced, at the end of the week. Hopefully, get it all back together over the weekend, for a photo shoot, then I'll post some photos. RE: New to the Boxer family - Motorhead1977 - 12-11-2023 Welcome! Nicely farkled and the red wheels will dress out the look. RE: New to the Boxer family - af1-windy - 12-11-2023 Thanks for the welcome.. Yes, I hope the wheels will give the bike a little added flair.. we'll soon know. RE: New to the Boxer family - Grumpy Goat - 12-11-2023 You are most welcome having joined in to the Forum Community. Always welcome RS owners from across the pond. Thanks also for the nice introduction. Looking forward to the photos after the bike is back together, and hope you have some nice weather for it. Thanks for the welcome GG The weather is pretty nasty just now, plenty of rain and wind.. not that I'm a fair weather rider, far from it, but I only ride in the rain when I have something planned, like a spot of wild camping. Hoping for some clear, dry days over winter, wrap up warm and head out for a hot drink. RE: New to the Boxer family - Lee - 12-11-2023 Welcome to the forum. Red frame RSs are the fastest RE: New to the Boxer family - af1-windy - 12-11-2023 It'll be even faster with Red wheels.. Thanks for the welcome.. RE: New to the Boxer family - Oldrider51 - 12-11-2023 Welcome to the Forum. Be sure to add a picture once all it is back together. RE: New to the Boxer family - maxredline - 12-11-2023 You Yorkshire riders kill me, loads of fun and beer. RE: New to the Boxer family - af1-windy - 12-12-2023 Hopefully, it'll all be back together over the weekend and I can get some photos. It'll be good to get your opinions on the Red wheels, I was in 2 minds, but decided to have a go, then at least I'll know for sure. Yep, loads of fun and beer to be had in Yorkshire, some great biking roads too.. Cheers, windy. RE: New to the Boxer family - Becksy - 12-12-2023 Welcome, recognise the name from the XR forum where I also used to hang out. Switched to the RS 18 months ago and no regrets! I haven't spent a lot of time on the rs yet, but I just know I'm gonna love it.. RE: New to the Boxer family - runnerhiker - 12-12-2023 Welcome from Colorado. I have that same Givi top case on my 2022 K1600GT and I like it very much - not too big, light, looks good. I have a 30 liter case on my RS but I can't use it on the K bike since BMW uses a different rack on the GT. Yes, it's a smart looking top box, I had the matching panniers but they don't fit the givi rack on the rs so I gifted them to my brother, who, still has his xr. RE: New to the Boxer family - af1-windy - 12-13-2023 Progress on the Red wheels.. When I purchased the bike the tyres were mismatched Road 6gt on the front and a 190 road4 on the rear. I've had the front re fitted because it's not far from new and matched it with a 180 road 6gt on the rear. I think the gt's are for heavier bikes and have a stiffer side wall,(I could be wrong) anyway, I'll see how I like them and if needs be I'll take a step back to Road 6's when they next need changing.. RE: New to the Boxer family - WALRUS - 12-13-2023 Hi from the home of prairie dogs and Commanches. RE: New to the Boxer family - af1-windy - 12-14-2023 Now there's a place I would like to visit, the USA is so big, I reckon you could spend a life time travelling and only see a fraction of the place.. Only been over once, I did some skydiving at Flagler Beach in the 90's RE: New to the Boxer family - Nozdog - 10-20-2024 (12-13-2023, 01:54 AM)af1-windy Wrote: Hi just wondering if you have the paint code for the racing red you had your wheels powered coated in as I'm looking for the RL code if you can kindly help. |
