Hello - JohnF - 06-17-2024

New here, so just introducing myself.

Taking ownership of an RS SE at the end of the month. First B-M, first 1l + bike, first sports tourer for a while (did 60K miles on a VFR750).

Will pop up asking for some tips on what screen and luggage (and crash protection... I won't embarass myself further with my low-speed drop history) soon enough. Cheers, John

Welcome to the Forum Community, John. There is a wealth of information here and on the parent website (although the latter needs some updating from yours truly).

I know you guys over the pond sometimes refer to this brand as "BM" (or "B-M") but for me the first thing that pops into my head when I hear that is "bowel movement", and if that is an analogy for its acceleration, then the prep for a certain procedure comes to mind.  Big Grin

Welcome! It'll be the best B-M you've ever had ;-p Enjoy your new ride.

RS = Road Sport . The RS is listed on BMW's site as Sport , and not sport touring even though you can .

Even though it is.

Thanks for the welcome. Enjoying the bike, so far handling a 110 mile round trip commute into central London with ease. X-heads fitted already, phone bracket going on this weekend.

Welcome! I now have 1 year of ownership of my 2023 R1250 RS with 8k miles of smiles ... and it is a KEEPER!

Hey JohnF,

I think you'll love the RS.

For Screen I have the $150 Puig touring Screen with tint which puts the air into my Shoei helmet top vents only and my vision is over the top still yet can raise it.  But over years it shows distracting scratches but waxing it makes it clear.  I think it's perfect because it doesn't obstruct the vision seeing over it but puts you in an air bubble.

For hard cases I use the OEM unpainted side hard cases unpainted with a OEM lock kit I put together myself to key match I got off eBay.  I have the OEM hard cases because if you hit something lane splitting (cases are are wider than the mirrors that let you know the engine fits) they are very forgiving and flex in the connection so your bike doesn't really get effected for stability, they are water tight, and you can get OEM fitted stiff mode bags for them.  I use custom soft bags so I can throw them around more.  The OEM hard cases also fit a full size Shoei RF-SR helmet with no GoPro accessories attached to lock and walk away.

Enjoy the RS!  It's an incredible bike!
