Suspension Issue - mojoguzzi - 10-27-2024
Went for a ride. Got this message. No ability to invoke suspension menu either.
Shocks are Wilbers that have been installed by my dealer two years ago (December 1, 2022) and were serviced (fork oil change) on 24 September. At that time, they also said the front fork seals were in need of replacing, which they did.

Infuriating. Anyone else ever had this message?

I have, on a 22 GSA however. After I put the axle spacer on the wrong side after a tire change. It messed with the ABS ring and sensor distance. ABS and traction codes as well as cruise not working.
I replaced the axle seal on that side and straightened the ABS ring. Cleared codes w/GS-911, all good.

I jiggled the cable that goes into the top of the rear shock, turned the bike on, and I saw my suspension menu. I fired up the bike, and I received no error. Hmmm

Noope! Ddin't work. Message came back. I rode all day Saturday with no issues. Rode over to coffee & bikes Sunday morning, no issues. Went for a ride--stopped after 20 minutes to adjust GPS...and got the error. Rode back to Richmond, stopped for lunch, came out... and no issue. Weird

Update: Morton's said it was a battery issue. Replaced the battery, and the error went away.
Now, the fact that this is battery number 3 in four years and 51K miles...?

Please let us know is that fault comes back despite the battery replacement. It is very weird to me that a bad battery can lead to a specific fault like "Spring strut adjustment faulty". If that is indeed the case, it suggests that nothing makes sense anymore because with this system any fault could be the battery which makes actual troubleshooting by an owner all the more difficult.
On a separate but related note - did you connect the bike to a GS-911? Do you have a GS-911?

The battery issue might make sense since the battery is required to operate the drive motor for the rear suspension and if the battery is low then maybe the motor cannot actuate, thus the error.

Weak battery will play havoc on electronics. Three in four years is no bueno though, something else is going on to cause that.

Battery or a connection fault. I experienced numerous Limp Mode events over two years or so and the only stored errors throttle position faults. I even switch out a battery at the time. The apparent problem was a slight amount of corrosion on the connector pins at the ECU. The shop cleaned the connector, applied a new/better BMW-spec dielectric grease. Problem gone, but the experience was maddening.

Well I could not even start my RS today even though it was reading over 12.3V at the battery terminals. I will start a new thread on this when I know more. I have a feeling that it is a different issue, so I won't hijack this thread.
