Completely Vintage 1977 BMW R 100 RS - Grumpy Goat - 02-05-2020 Just bought my block of 5 tickets on this gorgeous and very important bike. The only thing that would make it even more beautiful is if it were black. Expertly restored by BMW MOA member John “Dutch” Lammers. Hand signed by Hans Muth. The winner of this beautiful, one-of-a-kind restoration will be announced April 25, 2020 at the BMW MOA Fontana Weekend Getaway. It is for a great cause so in that spirit I am providing the link so you can buy your own tickets, although you will be contributing to my win! RE: Completely Vintage 1977 BMW R 100 RS - Lee - 02-05-2020 I was never a fan of that matte blue color but I still plan to buy a ticket. Have to say, I was impressed as much with the Dutchman's ability to still fit the vintage leathers. RE: Completely Vintage 1977 BMW R 100 RS - Olgry1 - 02-06-2020 Straight out of college that is the bike I lusted for especially with those big jugs . After I woke up I bought a new 1978 Yamaha XS 500E in black with gold striping. RE: Completely Vintage 1977 BMW R 100 RS - Lee - 02-06-2020 My favorite color was the blue and silver. Next was the red smoke Third favorite is the motorsport color RE: Completely Vintage 1977 BMW R 100 RS - darrell - 02-06-2020 Before purchasing the 2016 R1200RS these are the 3 R100RS bikes I owned. Model years 1978, 1982, 1984. The 78 had a Heinrich 8.5 gallon tank, all 3 bikes had both seats for 2 up and solo (best OEM seat BMW ever made in my mind) and the 82 and 84 models had the German police front fenders. I put a bit over 106,000 miles on these 3 bikes. [attachment=423][attachment=424][attachment=425] RE: Completely Vintage 1977 BMW R 100 RS - Olgry1 - 02-06-2020 Darrell, nice pictures! So you have been on RSs for a long time and a lot of miles. Nice! RE: Completely Vintage 1977 BMW R 100 RS - Grumpy Goat - 02-06-2020 Darrell - you are the ambassador for the RS and all things BMW. Nice pictures of the RSs you had. Completely Vintage 1977 BMW R 100 RS - Duccrazydave - 02-07-2020 Beautiful RS, GG! Saw one identical to that, last year, at my local dealership grand opening. Almost that clean, too. Nice pics, Darrell. I imagine the oversized tank made the center stand routine a little challenging. I would love to win that RS, but bigger projects have compromised space in the garage for another steed. If the information I was told is correct there were as few as 50 R100RS bikes of this color brought in to the US. I bought the Heinrich tank from a place called SideCar Restorations in St. Louis. They did the painting match as well. |
