Adaptive Cruise Control coming in MY2021 ... but will the RS get it? - Grumpy Goat - 06-30-2020 BMW Releases Details On Active Cruise Control System Likely to appear in the K1600XXX bikes and hopefully with other touring and sport touring bikes also, like the RS ... I have it on my car and like it a lot. When BMW put it on their bikes, I thought it was a solution looking for a problem, I didn't see a need for me personally. I have gotten used to the keyless, yes, but I still think it's a toy as far as motorcycles are concerned. I feel the same about adaptive cruise: seems like a good idea for a car but not so much for a motorcycle. But, hey, bring it on, let's see what happens. RE: Adaptive Cruise Control coming in MY2021 ... but will the RS get it? - MrVvrroomm - 06-30-2020 I'm all for it RE: Adaptive Cruise Control coming in MY2021 ... but will the RS get it? - Lee - 08-10-2021 The RT and the new R1800 Touring models with adaptive cruise control also have fully integrated brakes. I like being able to control the rear brake by itself for slow sharp turns, especially on a sandy or gravel surface. I'm guessing when the RS gets the 1300 engine in 2025 or so it will get adaptive cruise and fully integrated brakes. RE: Adaptive Cruise Control coming in MY2021 ... but will the RS get it? - VTBob - 08-19-2021 This news does not make me think more of new bikes. I have it on my car with pretty comprehensive anti-collision features. yes I mostly like these on my car. My car's adaptive cruse will stop and start my car so works very well in heavy traffic...I can set the following distance, etc. I dom't know where my car's adaptive cruse feature end or overlap anti collision. Most important point if some one moves quickly in to my path the brakes are automatically applied HARD I do not want auto stop and start on my bike, do not want emergency level of braking applied. Adaptive cruse may be ok above 40 for cruising on interstates but I what to be easily to turn it off or not use it all on winding secondary roads. RE: Adaptive Cruise Control coming in MY2021 ... but will the RS get it? - Grumpy Goat - 08-19-2021 My experience is similar to yours, Bob, and if it is included on any future BMWs I will not be unhappy and will likely use it quite a bit as I am a heavy user of cruise control (and would probably not have a bike without it). That said, if the bike did not come with adaptive CC (but does come with regular CC) I would still take the bike and would not pay extra for the adaptive part. |
