Quad Lock motorcycle vibration dampener - Upinsmoke - 10-23-2020

So I was looking for a way to mount my phone to the bike. I had another method that I used to use on the Ducati that I wasn’t real happy with so decided to give Quad lock a try. One of the issues on newer iPhones is vibrations damaging the cameras. When I ordered the parts turns out they just came out with a dampener this month. Here’s a couple of pictures of it. Basically the design is three little rubber dampeners that it rides on. I’ll let you know how it works out this weekend.

Ahhh just saw GG posted about this mount 2 years ago. I’m hoping he is still happy with it , that would be a good sign. Looks pretty sturdy to me and hopefully the cameras don’t go crazy with it .

Not only did I post some time ago about the QuadLock mount itself (QL Vibration Dampener was not available then), but this month I bought two Vibration Dampeners for the bikes and posted these videos:

You will like the product and best of all, so far my iPhone camera has not failed after about 4 rides (total) on both bikes.

I went on 100 miles of twisty roads today and all is good with the phone so far . The vibration dampener does bounce around a bit but not bad. It’s definitely doing it’s job.

Posting this picture here to show how I mounted the QuadLock dampener to the right-hand side, and the parts used (in response to a comment on YouTube).

The BMW R1200RS has clip-on style handlebars and so it is tricky to mount anything to it. I used the following to mount the QuadLock to my bike. These are listed in order from the handlebar to the phone:

RAM Mounts RAM-B-201U Double Socket Arm: https://tinyurl.com/yrt8fsxy

I used BMW 'pipe clamps' from a GS and a bolt, the one on the right has an angled arm, pointed towards the center of the bike.  With a short RAM arm to lessen vibration amplitude, the phone is also out of the rain.

The one on the other side is a simple vertical ball mount - my radar detector goes on that one, when I use it.
