Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - darrell - 03-18-2021 https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/dunlop-introduces-versatile-new-street-tire-called-mutant/ Introducing The All-New Mutant Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Dunlop’s all-new Mutant is what you might expect: A mutation of unique components that create one of the most versatile street tires Dunlop has ever produced. The Mutant is the latest addition to Dunlop’s premium performance product line. With an aggressive tread pattern customizers will love, a high-level of grip rain or shine, plus high mileage, the Mutant packs a broad portfolio at a high-performance level. Perhaps the best news: the Mutant is available in a host of sizes that fit more than 250 different motorcycle models available in the U.S. Combining lightweight, Jointless Belt construction, Apex technology—a special sidewall treatment that increases braking and cornering stability—and Dunlop’s exclusive MT Multi-Tread™ technology that combines high mileage with plenty of side grip, the Mutant offers nimble handling, a compliant ride, high mileage, and lays down a big footprint for extra grip. MT Multi-Tread in the rear tire allows the Mutant to provide additional mileage compared to single compound tires, which makes the Mutant ideal for touring and commuting, and the high-grip lateral compounds on each shoulder give the Mutant full sport tire capabilities. The combination of a high silica compound—which increases grip in wet conditions—and deep tread that channels off water like nothing short of Dunlop’s racing rain tires, helps give the Mutant exceptional performance in the rain. Along with its aggressive looks and performance, the Mutant is available in a host of sizes that fit more than 250 different motorcycle models. With such a huge volume of fitments and a high level of mileage and performance, the Mutant is an ideal all-around tire with capabilities few tires can match. Technology: MT Multi-Tread Dunlop’s patented MT Multi-Tread technology in the rear-tire uses a high-mileage compound in the center of the tread for maximum mileage, and high-grip lateral compounds on the shoulders for maximum grip and performance. Multi-Tread helps deliver the best of both worlds: class-leading mileage, and cornering grip that rivals purpose-built sport tires. JLB Jointless Band technology uses a continuously wound belt within the tire carcass, limiting dynamic growth and making handling more consistent. 4ST 4 Seasons Technology combines ply materials and hi-silica compounds with deep, uniquely shaped tread grooves to displace water for maximum traction in wet conditions. RPC Rayon Ply Casing material allows the Mutant to warm up quickly and helps increase mileage. Hi Silica A high silica compound ratio promotes tread flexibility, especially at low operating temperatures, increasing wet and dry grip, and mileage. RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - Grumpy Goat - 03-18-2021 Link and picture. Interesting. RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - Lee - 03-19-2021 One of the very few street tires available with tread grooves in the center. I'll keep an eye on this set. When I first saw the picture I thought it was a 90/10 adventure tire. RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - Grumpy Goat - 03-19-2021 I would wager that is a noisy tire that would probably do very well in the wet. With poor hearing and ear plugs I can't hear tire noise I think it was the PR4 front people complained about tire noise and I could never hear it. RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - Lee - 03-19-2021 It's probably just the picture, the front tire looks like it's already down to 2/32" tread depth RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - runnerhiker - 03-19-2021 Lee: poor hearing, excellent eyesight, sharp wit. Mutant: the specs read like the RoadSmarts, the looks is anti road/sport. I wonder what the price will be, more? or less? expensive than the RS? RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - MrVvrroomm - 03-19-2021 The Mutants be the perfect tire for me once they've been out for 5 years. (dealers will be blowing them out). Dunlop Trailsmarts for under $100/set.... https://www.chapmoto.com/dunlop-trailsmart-dual-sport-radial-rear-tire.html A little spin on my three R's = round, rubber, really good deal Dawn has a fresh set of these on her GS RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - Ray - 03-19-2021 (03-19-2021, 06:54 AM)Lee Wrote: When I first saw the picture I thought it was a 90/10 adventure tire.It is.... At least that's what they want the GS riders thinking. Fashionable, goes better with spoked wheels than other tread patterns. Agree - will be easier to see the midline wear. I know some guys who bought several sets of those because of the cheap price. RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - darrell - 03-24-2021 Someone asked where these Mutants are priced. RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - Grumpy Goat - 03-24-2021 (03-24-2021, 10:53 AM)darrell Wrote: Roadsmart IV - Front, $151.48 - Rear, $199.32 At those prices the Michelin sport touring tires would be a very understandable option at $380 for a set. RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - Chris216 - 03-24-2021 They do seem pretty pricey. For that kind of $ you would have to be doing a lot of rain or "dirty" road riding. Chris RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - runnerhiker - 03-24-2021 I am surprised at the price. I wonder whether they are testing the waters for "Michelin prices" on a Dunlop tire. RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - MrVvrroomm - 03-24-2021 New tires are almost always MSRP when they are first released. RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - Olgry1 - 03-25-2021 I agree guys. Dunlops have traditionally been a good tire and a great value. RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - darrell - 03-26-2021 [attachment=1093] RE: Dunlop New Motorcycle Tire - Grumpy Goat - 03-26-2021 Looking forward to the reports! Should be phenomenal in the wet. |
