shift lever adjustment - Spyder - 05-27-2021

I have a 2016 RS and am trying to raise the shift lever to accommodate new boots. With the selector rod maxed out/in to its shortest it is still not comfortably high enough. The stock selector rod is 145mm. Has anyone replaced it with a shorter one from an RT (123mm) or even a GS (107mm) to gain more height.

I see no reason why you couldn't. I replaced the shift rod on my R1100S with one from an R1200ST to gain the desired height. The difference in length between the two you are considering is fairly substantial, so some careful measuring would let you know which way you need to go.

Thank you. I was thinking the RT length. BMW dealerships want $75 for this small turnbuckle like screw - ridiculous but cheaper than an aftermarket shift lever replacement.

You might try Beemer Boneyard to see if they have anything. But don't hold your breath.

I'm a bit late to this dance, but also look at McMaster-Carr. They sell almost every conceivable nut/bolt/turnbuckle/tool and heim joint that exists. Not cheap, but good service. I'm very happy with them.
