Barber Vintage Days - Chris216 - 10-11-2021

I got out to the Barber Vintage event this weekend. I've never been out there before, the museum is unbelievable! It's one of those "must see in your lifetime" places! Total motorcycle overload! Tongue They even had 3 of the Alan Millyard bikes Here's just a few of the pics I got. Had a great time.

Beautiful. You picked a great time to go.

I see folks on the track. Did you find an old bike and get to do a few laps for old times' sake?

RE: Barber Vintage Days - Lee - 10-11-2021

That's on our to do list.
Thanks for the pics.
Debbie and I went to the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa Iowa two weeks ago.
Barber is a little more upscale Smile

Visiting Barber museum is on my to-do list. Looks amazing. I'd love to see a close-up of the red and white Ducati that is in the far-right background of the picture of that luscious Moto Guzzi.

That’s a MH900e, Mike. A later model Mike Hailwood tribute bike.

MSPRATZ, here you go. The replica and the real deal (or at least a very good copy).

My first visit was when the museum was located in downtown Birmingham. My last was at the new site when the new wing was under construction. Always a treat to the point of over-saturation. Planned to go last summer/fall but couldn't. Maybe this fall/winter.

They recommend you start at the top and work your way down. I am totally saturated before I get to the bottom. This next time I will reverse the order and see how that works.

Over saturation is right! We tried to do it in one day (started late) starting from the bottom but got kicked out at closing time. Had to finish up on Saturday annd I'm sure I could go back again and see things I missed.

And my favorite bike is sitting in the background, to the left of the original MH.
Ducati 888!

RE: Barber Vintage Days - Chris216 - 10-12-2021

Dave, I had the pleasure of racing an 888 for 2 years for Rocket Motorcycles out of San Diego. Big Grin

Dang it, man. That's awesome! Was that in AMA Twins, by chance? My first time seeing, more importantly, hearing a Ducati was at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Doug Polen, on the #23 Ducati bellowing around the banked turns, onto the front straight had me hooked right away Big Grin

RE: Barber Vintage Days - Chris216 - 10-12-2021

Unfortunately we didn't have the Budget for AMA. We mostly ran AFM & WSMC. Ran Open stock & open mod prod 1st year. Battle of the twins and open superbike 2nd year.

Here's a side shot of the 888

That wooden track section with the vintage HDs is a really cool display. Need to add that place to my bucket list of ride destinations.

Funny, the HD Museum was down the same street as my old office and while I've been there I didn't think of taking a picture. I live a block away from their HQ, too. No real interest in their stuff.

Vintage days is amazing. More than the spectacular museum!
See the racing...smell the smells.
When I went a few years ago they had a Vincent owners display by corner 14 so you when not watching the racing, I could ogle Vinents.
Enjoyed wander the vintage swap meet

A weekend of over load.

Most of the bikes at Anamosa were Harley, Indian and British stuff.

...and reminisce to the sounds of yesterday.
It;s on the bucket list, if for nothing other than the memories (mostly pleasant) that sights, smells, and sounds of hard-ridden, 60 year-old bikes can bring back.
