Slip on exhaust thread - maxredline - 02-15-2022 Yo, thought it might be an idea to get a slip on exhaust (or full) thread going. I imagine the 1200 and 1250 stock exhaust note must be similar. Lets start with a stock 1250 by Schaaf (1200s can't be far off) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejLLlshzr0U&t=113s GG with a Remus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFXlSWh2AzY&t=643s Arrow Maxi race, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17Y4aIT3MBM Akropovic http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKXR6PAqrLs Leo Vince https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZzczM-V69g SC Project https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrZXz23_fWQ RE: Slip on exhaust thread - maxredline - 02-15-2022 I don't think you can go wrong with any of the ^^^ I will stick to stock at least for now, but am a fan of Arrow. RE: Slip on exhaust thread - ESquared - 02-15-2022 Thanks for posting! I'm pretty much sold on the Arrow as well. Not looking for more noise, just maybe a deeper note and an aesthetic change. RE: Slip on exhaust thread - ESquared - 02-15-2022 Here's one of the Arrow, in Black, on the Imp Blue RS. Not much to it, but a good look... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6CtIIjAjOQ RE: Slip on exhaust thread - ESquared - 02-15-2022 Here's one from Europe (Spain?), so it may not be an exact duplicate of a US model, but the Arrow sounds pretty good on the road. You don't need to listen to the whole 7:33 to get the idea, but it's some nice scenery! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nBCFCXYUgE RE: Slip on exhaust thread - Lee - 02-16-2022 (02-15-2022, 02:19 PM)maxredline Wrote: . I imagine the 1200 and 1250 stock exhaust note must be similar. The 1250 exhaust sounds different to us. The muffler looks the same but I think the flapper valve is different. The shift cam engine sounds different to me too. In addition, the engine exhaust sound changes quite noticeably when the shift cam shifts. I have heard this change under partial load and gentle up incline in the mountains. RE: Slip on exhaust thread - maxredline - 03-03-2022 Well I went and did it. That fugly big can had to go. Even though I am a fan of Arrows, I like the look of the heat shields on the Remus and SC Project. Got lucky and found a SC Project at a have to buy price. RE: Slip on exhaust thread - maxredline - 03-28-2022 Can fitted. RE: Slip on exhaust thread - Grumpy Goat - 03-28-2022 Nice. Thanks for posting the picture. I like the shape better than my Remus. Slip on exhaust thread - NHrider - 04-25-2022 I researched for ever to find my exhaust. There were no exhaust videos, so i took a leap of faith when I bought it. MAN am i happy! I bought a GPR Sonic slip on Titanium model. The slip on comes in stainless and titanium. It has removable baffles that make a pretty big difference in noise. GPR customer service is great too. I bought the exhaust off their ebay store. When I recieved it, the black tip was damaged due to bolts rolling around in the packaging. They took it back and sent me a new one no questions asked. Payed for return shipping too. I just added Black Widow headers tonight. With the catalytic converter gone and the baffle taken out, the bike pretty loud. I needed to put the baffle back in. The muffler/header combo sounds incredible. The header gave the bike noticeable boost in power. No more flat spot and it just pulls and pulls. I found myself accidentally bouncing it off rev limiter on the test ride after the install. I never used to do that before. They uniquely have their own titanium foundry, and I think they're one of the few that do all their own casting, rolling, cutting, and welding of it in-house. https://youtu.be/gd-gL3y5rI0 As for the looks and sounds of their products for the RS, it's a bit of a mixture and dependent on what you get from them. I think the can looks too fat. Why can't it be more slender like the can on the R1 in the video: Aren't we more concerned about sound, though? I am, but I think Akras are really designed as system, muffler & headers together. I think their de-CAT'd systems with the baffle & dB killer left in may provide a great compromise to be non-offensive & very approachable at low RPM/throttle inputs, but awaken the beast if given the beans -- sort of what I attribute to the rest of the character of the bike anyway. The can by itself is OK but I think an Arrow or SC Project sound much better and have a FAR easier-to-remove dB killer. RE: Slip on exhaust thread - Pyrrho - 04-26-2022 Speaking of exhaust sound... Just watched "The Batman". Bruce, being a man of style and significant substance, chose a BMW boxer to power his vehicle of choice for most of the movie's vehicle scenes. Not the shaft drive, though, because in some shots you can see a chain. Not many close-up shots. Here's some video taken of filming of one of the bike scenes, recorded in downtown Chicago. Check out the (lack of?) exhaust. Mostly idling and revving, skip to 7:20 to see & hear it drive off. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kurIuBZZsrs |
