TFT Protective Glass - darrell - 03-09-2022

Does anyone have any experience with adding this to their TFT display? Looking around at parts after a rider told me his screen was easier to keep clean and scratch free after he added this.

I put a similar product from Speedo Angels on the Tracer (there is a video on my channel) and it does a great job at adding an extra layer of invisible protection to the screen. I don't think that it makes any difference in keeping it clean and smudges will go where they must and nothing will make them not appear. It does keep the original scratch free because it will take the scratches. The hardest part is putting it on straight.

There's not much reason the touch the TFT screen except when washing or wiping off dew.
If you have not scratched your R1200RS dash you probably won't scratch the TFT.
I have a plastic film on my phone but it gets touched alot with your hand and in your pocket.
I did not put a protector on my car TFT and no scratches after four years. Maybe once a month I wipe it off with a microfiber.

The shape of that protector tell us you're not buying a RT Smile

I agree with Lee. There's never a reason to touch the TFT unless being cleaned.

My dealer put one on when I bought my bike. Anytime you clean your screen, it could be scratched, so it seems like cheap(ish) insurance.

I had the BMW glass cover (you show on the original message) installed on my RS TFT before I took delivery of my 2020. My sales person advised he found the TFT difficult to keep clean and recommended it. So I can't say anything about the different between having it and not having it. There is a lot of dust in my garage from wind and nearby crop fields. This cover is rigid glass, not a flexible, plastic cover, it's very sturdy, and I feel I don't have to treat it softly.

I saw the salesman install the one on my RS, he did it easily (lots of experience?). I installed a flexible plastic one on the Kawasaki ZH2 TFT and it was impossible for me to do it without bubbles (a couple of small ones), it was $35 and appears like a sacrificial cover that would be easy to replace if it is scratched. The BMW is glass and appears to be sturdier than the TFT cover itself. I like it and I would do it again.

Ron, I concur with your view.
