GPS MOVE - Spinner - 08-24-2018

Managed to find a VORTEX to get my GPS where it can be seen. Wish I’d done it two years ago. Easy install and really well made. I’d attach a photo but got an error saying the photo exceeded the allowable memory?

Spinner - see this thread for some help in this regard. Pictures on for a need not be as large as they come out of our modern cameras and should be simply resized and they would likely be small enough to pass the threshold. Smile

+1 on the Vortex mount. Really works well and puts the GPS were it should have been in the first place.

RE: GPS MOVE - Grumpy Goat - 01-02-2019

Only yesterday on a ride I noted to myself how perfect the location of the GPS was due to installation on the Vortex. Another benefit not [often] mentioned is the ease of readability for those of us with bifocals. So natural to glance slightly down to a display that is somewhat closer especially when the windscreen is in the upper position.

Yes, it was probably the most expensive [and heaviest] GPS relocation solution, but like Bacaruda's top box rack, it was a bespoke design, and the price was reflected in the quality. It also so well integrates with the design of the cockpit that it looks like a factory solution as opposed to the other effective but less aesthetically pleasing solutions like the Hornig bar-across-the-top design.

From what I have seen of the 2019 RS, BMW still has not addressed this design shortfall.

Since they had to change the fairing for the new lights, I'm surprised they did not address the GPS location.
They went the easy route and kept the same windshield mounts and shield.
