Powerlet 12V socket with dual USB adapter - Grumpy Goat - 09-03-2018 Just got a comment on the YouTube channel regarding where I would connect my phone to charge / use, and while I have photos to share there is no uploading of photos possible on YouTube's text-only comments. So I made this thread to answer the question. I have a marine-grade Powerlet 12V socket which I wired directly to the battery bypassing the CAN-BUS network. To this setup I added a removable dual USB adapter plug, this enabling me to use the socket as a straight 12V socket or use the USB adapter to power/charge up to 2 USB devices. Being a Powerlet 12V socket it is a little more expensive than the eBay stuff at $24.95 (Model ASO-002) but I am sure would be much cheaper than a BMW version of this accessory, if they offered one. Hope this answered the question. RE: Powerlet 12V socket with dual USB adapter - AZGeek - 01-01-2019 Nice install. I have something similar but mounted on the left hand side. I have this wired into a switched circuit on a FuzeBlok bus so power is only supply while the bike is turned on. That prevents any inadvertent battery drain. Also, the OCD in me tried my best to have it centered in that side panel. RE: Powerlet 12V socket with dual USB adapter - Grumpy Goat - 01-02-2019 Nice ... looks beautifully positioned also. I too looked at that lighted solution when I was looking for the USB socket but decided to go for the Powerlet based on its good reputation for robust marine and motorcycle solutions. I was not disappointed. |
