Glad to have ya join us for a ride on Thursday or Friday morning. Saturday we'll probably leave so we can camp at Willville Bike Camp in Meadows of Dan for a couple of days. Feel free to private message me if you want to connect. Meanwhile--a new video! Some cool looking backroads in your video ... some look to be like going through a dense forest. Enjoy the journey. There's several companies now selling tents with a motorcycle garage. I see that one is actually called Moto Tent. It might be hard finding him. RE: 2023 BMW MOA (new thread) Who's Coming? - TriangleRider - 06-10-2023 I spent today at the National. Air quality is back to a typical east coast summer...bad but with no visible smoke. The rally was good and seemed well attended. Other than the smoke, the weather this weekend has been outstanding. Holy crap, BMW sells a lot of GS's. Probably 2/3 of the bikes were GSs, with K16s coming in a distant second. Just about every GS had the required aluminum bags. There were a decent number of RTs, but I only saw four RSs, including mine, and one 1250R. As rare were the 4-cylinder bikes with one S1000XR and one S1000RR spotted. Vendors reflected the heavy ADV rider population. Those guys have the space and money to farkle and the aftermarket knows it. It makes sense why there are so few aftermarket parts for the 1250R and 1250RS. Why would anyone bother designing anything that doesn't fit a GS? 2023 BMW MOA (new thread) Who's Coming? - TriangleRider - 06-10-2023 A few cruddy pics from the 50th Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk RE: 2023 BMW MOA (new thread) Who's Coming? - Grumpy Goat - 06-10-2023 (06-10-2023, 05:54 PM)TriangleRider Wrote: Holy crap, BMW sells a lot of GS's. I am always amazed at the same thing myself ... and despite the high number of GSs maybe most never see dirt and owners just have them because they are comfortable and can pretty much do anything competently. Darrell reported that he saw a fairly large number of RSs this time around so maybe you were in a different area. Lots of grey heads there though, and that is why the S bikes are very poorly represented. Just have to look at the Owners News magazine to see what bikes are the focus. Hardly any mention ever of S bikes. 2023 BMW MOA (new thread) Who's Coming? - TriangleRider - 06-10-2023 Too funny.. This *was* my first National.. Lol. Now that you mention it, it is likely the RS guys were actually out riding. You are also right that the MOA National is a very limited demographic. The sport and sport touring riders maybe chose the Star Rally in Knoxville. There were 5 RS bikes at the motel I was staying at a few miles from the really. They were from 5 different east coast states so probably not riding together. I spent several hours with Dunlop and a couple RS riders stopped by their outdoor booth. Maybe the smoke threat kept some people away. Here's the numbers from the previous years. My brother and I were out riding on Thursday and Saturday. RE: 2023 BMW MOA (new thread) Who's Coming? - darrell - 06-15-2023 This was my 28th National MOA rally and it ranks in the top 5. Good variety of vendors, the multiple food trucks had a variety of foods including some healthier ones, lots of seminars of interest to many, the GS challenge course with the mud pit left the bike wash area look like a dirt slab each evening, music variety was good, bus tour to Washington DC and a bourbon distillery visit were available to many attendees. Add to all the rally activists were the fabulous roads to ride near the rally site. I did read 11% of the attendees were first time national rally attendees so some hope this event does not age out as we all retire from riding at some point. But clearly an aging group of attendees.
