That took all of 30 seconds of decision before I emailed him to buy it. Booyah.

Since the weather has been terrible for the past several weeks, I haven't ridden with my new helmet, but I do have some observations about helmet progress and design. First of all, this helmet replaces a Shoei X-11 which was a 2005 Snell-rated helmet. Shoei's racer helmet at the time, I bought the X-11 on close-out in about 2010. It had lots of air vents but was very quiet for me.

The new RF1400 is advertised to be smaller, lighter and lower drag than prior or comparable products. Relative to safety ratings, the RF1400 is a Snell 2020D helmet so the shock load to the head is reduced 9% and the impact energy capacity is raised 12% (first strike), relative to Snell 2005 X- in my head size (XL).

So, with all that and crappy weather, what could I do with my new purchase? I measured the shell dimensions and weight. Width and fore-aft length are nominally the same, so the claim of lower drag is a bit suspicious. Surprisingly, the new helmet weighs 1.3-ounces more than the old one (assuming I can trust my wife's postal scale). That's not what I recall from the advertising....

Someday, hopefully, I'll be able to comment on noise level and ventilation.

I am seriously considering Rokker jeans, the models that I like and my size are unavailable from mail order places or directly from Rokker. So that gives me some time to ask: Anybody familiar with Rokker Jeans? Or has had a pair?

I like jeans in the summertime because they breathe. I have had Draggin Jeans and Klim jeans and they work ok but there is new technology out there. All my current jeans are lined inside with Kevlar material, but the new stuff has made the synthetic material into threads and this thread is woven into a single layer fabric with the cotton. This should be much more comfortable than a pair of cotton jean with the inside lined with Kevlar.

Some of the new Rokker single layer jeans are CE AAA rated which is a better slide protection than leather. All these jeans now come with knee and hip protectors also.

Rokker is not the only one with this new technology (single layer material), but I understand they are the leaders in this.

I went down about 6 years ago, I was wearing my Draggin Jeans, with no knee or hip pads at the time, and the Kevlar at the knee did its job - no loss of integrity of the Kevlar.

What do you guys think?

Rev It, Trench jacket

I want to share my experience with the Rev it brand "trench" motorcycle jacket.
Realizing motorcycles and gear are subjective these are my thoughts.

I really like the jacket. It is the most comfortable armored jacket I have ever worn, period. I have 4 jackets and this is the one I wear when it is cool. It works well in the cooler mornings then open the vents for the warmer ride home. The outer shell being Gortex is a huge advantage over ones that are not but that comes with a price tag. You don't look out of place in a urban environment other than your shoulder being broader.

Every one here I'm sure has heard of Klim and I own a "latitude" jacket (and pant that I hardly use) but for comfort the "trench" jacket is a real winner.

The ribs of the back pad should give you some air flow but I like to open the holes using a small solder iron.
There's a little discount on the 2018 Klim Induction Jackets now and I bought one from Motorcycle Gear $279.
https://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/ja..._2018.html

We have bought a lot of non current gear from this vendor.
Right now the jacket is only 20% off. By spring it will probably be down to 40 to 50% off.
I wanted the blue trim and decided to buy now while I had a choice on color.
I also like the look of the 2018 jacket better than the 2021 jackets that will be available soon.

Warm N Safe has the Generation Waterproof colored liners on sale. Red or Yellow in the Men's and Red, Yellow or Grey for women.

We had Gerbing jackets since 2003. They worked good but I did not like that they didn't have zippered pockets to hide the three cords when not used.
Debbie didn't like how the rib knit waist would ride up her back.

The Color waterproof breathable heated jacket liners have been on sale for awhile and when I saw a extra 20% discount code on the ADV Forum in the Vendor forum we decide to order a couple.
My Red jacket cost $144, Yellow would have been $120. Debbie's Grey jacket cost $120.
Even without the ADV discount the jackets are a good buy.

I normally wear size Large and the Warm N Safe Large fit me. Debbie normally wears Large but hers was too small (short in the arms and body plus a little tight) and had to exchange for XL.
With mailing hers back she ended up all in for $140 for her jacket.
Turn around time was very fast. I used Priority mail and Warm N Safe used Priority Mail and the turn around time was seven days. Iowa to Oregon.

The waterproof breathable material has a nice soft feel and they have a nice look when not covered by your riding jacket.
