Hi everyone,

I am exploring the exhaust options of the R1250RS and I really like the Vance & Hines pipe, but since they don't make it for the RS I am considering buying a GS version and making a custom bracket to fit the RS. Has anyone gone down this road? What is the likelihood of unhappy ECU codes. I've searched forums and Google, nothing comes up specific to Vance & Hines and RS.
Thanks,

I have been pondering the question, should I get my stock chrome exhaust powder coated?
The main reason for my pondering is athletics, the same reason I got rid of the stock muffler. I am not a huge fan of chrome on exhausts but can live with it.
I don't need a not cat pipe and realize the engineering (and restrictions) that went into its manufacture. No aftermarket header needed.

I can get it done for $20/ft Canadian. I think it works out to around 6ft.
http://www.koolcoatceramiccoatings.com/e...tings.html

I figure black may work with the lupin blue RS but I would prefer a silver or silver metallic.
http://www.koolcoatceramiccoatings.com/h...tings.html
The only drawbacks for me would be if the coating would diss-colour from heat and fitting the muffler and flapper valve after the coating has been applied.
Your thoughts?

Sorry I’ve been a little absent from this and other forums in general.

My R1200RS is bought and paid for since December and so I have the spare change to finally do some mods after buying some new gear which is long overdue.

So first port of call is finally getting rid of that horrible stock pipe that has bothered me since day one in all it’s shiny enormous glory.

I quite like the look and price of the Leo Vince pipes for the RS and wonder if anyone else is running one?

And what are potential other options in a similar price range?

Always wanted an Akrapovic and while I love the engineering the stupid price and the fact it’s the now boring default BMW option makes it a no go on this bike.

Being in South Africa it’s the only one I’d likely be able to get locally though, but also don’t mind importing as it’s not my first rodeo with bike parts across the world.

Had a few Sport Tourers, and this one seems to have the smallest tank. My previous FJR has 6 gal, and the current Goldwing (yo be traded in) has 5.8 gal.
The mixing directions state that a full bottle(20 Oz) will treat up to 20 Gl. The way that I see it, 5 Oz should do it for a full tank. Does that sound about right?

Picked up a used Remus slip on the other day. Purchased from a gentleman that had the misfortune of running over a 3/4” combination wrench, which then punctured the engine case. Caused enough damage to the tranny/case for insurance to total the bike! Fortunately he wasn’t hurt and the payoff allowed him to get a new steed- a very sinister looking black GS.
The pipe looks brand new. The installation was straightforward and (with the dB killer in) sounds great. Slightly louder at idle. Throaty while accelerating, but barely noticeable during steady cruising. It does pop a little more during downshifting, which I like. Quite a change from the stock can, particularly in size and weight
Throaty while accelerating, but barely noticeable during steady cruising. It does pop a little more during downshifting, which I like. Quite a change from the stock can, particularly in size and weight
