Probably like starting a tire thread but, hey ho.. not much else to do eh?

So, tents for motocamping loads of options and a wide price range. This is my take on the topic.

Initially, I thought, I know, it has to be ultra light, then thought why? a pillion isn't ultra light. And it has to be small, why? a pillion isn't small and more room = more comfort..

I have a few tents, more than I need but I had to find the right one. I don't use a dome tent, mostly because they don't have a lobby (porch) important here in the UK because even in summer it can rain and sharing the sleeping area with a pile of wet boots, helmet, jacket, trousers and gloves is not my idea of fun. If I want something wet in my sleeping quarters, I'd like it to be my sleeping companion..

I like tunnel tents, easy to erect, decent ventilation, plenty of choice with a lobby (porch) and a 2 man tent is plenty big enough for a biker with gear. Downside, they are long, not such an issue on a campsite but when wild camping you need to find an area that will take a 4m long tent plus guy ropes.

Here are photos of my tents .

This is a great tent, but the poles are starting to crack and bucket groundsheet in the porch isn't connected to the sleeping area. Nice tent but seen better days, it has been around a while.

Finally! The weather and the timing came together and I was able to get my first motocamping trip of 2020 done. I chose Fairfield State Park because it is fairly close to home (2 - 2.5 hours depending on the route) and it is a pretty nice Texas State Park with good amenities, a nice lake and decent trails for walking.

This trip was supposed to be a shakedown trip for my more compact camping pack (drybag shrank from 60L to 40L) bit I have different added stuff - more on that in another video. It all came together well and I am ready for the next trip where I will bring some dehydrated food!

I just realised .... there is no thread in this forum area. Lets fix that.

Two of my work colleagues and another chap are intending to embark on a motocamping trip to DeGray State Park in Arkansas, and to spend 3 nights in a YURT. Never stayed in a yurt before and never even camped with these guys before. As a matter of fact only went on a long ride with one of them, so the overall experience should be interesting.

We have 2 full days of riding planned, and will be visiting other State Parks and sites of interest in the area. I intend to take some video and photos, and will be sharing on the website, YouTube, and in this thread.

Bikes other than my RS are 2 Harleys (one big and one small) and a Kawasaki Ninja 650.

Below is a picture of a YURT from their website ... looks nice.
