Good to know.

Brand loyalty pays off these days.

Free bulbs.
Free tires.
If you do it right, free bikes.

I was surprised.

That is indeed good to know. I use Sylvania bulbs too.

I have been using Sylvania UltraVision H7 bulbs for a while. They are somewhat whiter than standard, but don't last very long. Less than 270 hours by my experience. I got four of them for about $10 each from eBay. Since then I can't find them for less than about $20.00 each.
I recently bought four of the Hella H7LL (Long Life) for about $7 each. They supposedly last twice as long as the standard Hella H7s, but I can't find anything on Hella's website or on the box they came in to say how long that is likely to be. I seem to remember finding something saying that were rated at 1000 hours, but I can't find it now. I'm still on my last Sylvania bulb, so I haven't tried the Hella yet.
I just stumbled upon these on Amazon. They claim to be "Super White" and "Super Long Life (1200 hours)". https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HCC3NGD/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_NK76636J040B1RP8EBP8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Some of the reviews call into question the "Super Bright" claim.

(Still can't believe we continue to have these discussions in the era of LEDs.
The old school H7 was my biggest surprise when I picked up the otherwise technology-ridden RS in 2015.)

For a few bucks, I've started to change my bulb pre-emptively every 12,000 miles at the beginning of trips.
(I figure I lose a lot more money prematurely changing tires and oil....)

That said - if I go to O'Reilly's with a burned out bulb and a receipt, it's now worth a few bucks (that's a few bucks more than a worn out tire or oil). And there are O'Reilly stores everywhere. 5 bulbs/60,000 miles = one hotel room.

I wonder why they require the receipt and package when they can see your purchase on the computer?
I buy mine at Walmart because Walmart is $6 cheaper. $7 cheaper with Deb's discount.
I need to keep the cheap BMW rider reputation going Smile

I just checked the manual on my 2020, high and low beam are LED's. I have a couple of H7 and one H4 I'll bring with me to Logan and give away.

RE: Headlight Bulb Replaced Again - darrell - 04-30-2021

I decided to buy a simple thing like a bulb at my local in town business 3 miles from home vs driving 8 miles to the large big box Wally store that has already driven thousands of small town stores out of business and continues to do so. There is something I enjoy about seeing a local town person trying to make a living vs going through the self checkout line at a large retailer. My point of the post was to inform others something that I was unaware of as far as warranties on light bulbs, not to divert a thread on who can find the cheapest bulb.

Lee, I understand your sentiment.

On the other hand, Darrell's comment makes me feel like less of a chump for my practice of paying the extra $2 to buy my once-a-year bulb at the dealership.
