2023 R1250RS ... will it come in Triple Black?!

The R does not come standard with a shield.

Maybe the RS will have a 4-way shield.

That's what I thought about the R but I didn't bother speculating any further.

Main thing about the RS windshield is reducing the number of people that find it a problem re buffeting. Right now, there are lots of complaints about noise and / or buffeting, and while a windshield is a very subjective thing, they surely can make it better so that there are less complaints from the majority of people. Having 4 steps to the adjustment is great if at the lowest setting there is no wind noise / buffeting (almost like a naked bike) and at the highest it provides great protection for a majority without looking like a fugly barn door on what is supposed to be a "sport bike". We'll see.

Windshield - maybe the 4 way position is exactly what the RS has today.  High or low holes, up or down position?

I never thought of that ... yes it has 4 positions presently just not 4 on the fly ...

Had the decals off the same day I got it home. Peeled off easily and cleaned up with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Bonus: more people ask me what bike it is.  Cool

Agreed. At 6'4" it's my only gripe with the bike so far, and the worst part of my ride back from Arizona. In my experience it has gotten progressively worse with each generation of RS. I've tried the Puig Touring and have a MRA Variotouring on now. Thinking of trying a MRA Vario-X-Creen next.

I count eight 2023 models with the Triple Black option.

The world just seems a little brighter when the sun shines on a clean, gloss-black finish..., but as you've heard me say before, a black bike comes with a heavy social responsibility. The esthetic importance of keeping triple-black clean, shiny, and scratch-free is probably triple the importance of keeping a black motorcycle clean. Good luck to those who dare.

True, although black vehicles tend to look better in the shade not in the sun. Smile According to automotive detailers, black then red are the hardest colours to maintain shiny and swirl / scratch free. I have owned more than one black car in the past and one red car ... all back in the day when I liked to spend time caring for the shine ... now not so much, although my vehicles still tend to be shiny. Still like the look of my black and grey RS. Might not be as sweet as the Triple Black but still has a meaner look - to me - than the other colourways.  Big Grin

Here it is in the shade in Ingram TX last month during the MOA Getaway.

Well, the Premiere of the 2023 R1250RS video launching the new model is playing now and it has:

  1. New adaptive headlights with cornering function;
  2. Updated TFT display with new Corescreen Sport (a display mode);
  3. New rear end design;
  4. Heated seat;
  5. Eco mode;
  6. Three variants - Sport, Triple Black, Light White;

Would be interesting to see how the pannier racks are attached given the new rear and design.

Overall a very mild update.

Mild yes, but they did it well. Plus I'm a sucker for the RWB color scheme. Nothing is as good as adaptive LED headlights with cornering (articulated) function. Had those on my Abarth Spider and they were fantastic, though I don't generally ride my Moto at night.

The Sport is the only one to come standard with the solo seat and rear peg delete. The Sport can be ordered with the optional passenger kit.
Triple Black and White come standard with the rear seat and rear pegs.
Not sure why they show the Sport screen as new. Our 2022RSs came with it.

The Core Screen Sport is not a windscreen but a display on the TFT screen, which they claim is new - see the pic below for the R1250R. There appears to be no change to the windscreen for 2023. Sad

So, no one commented on the new handlebars?? Even the video did not mention it but apparently gone are the pseudo clip-ons and now the RS has the handlebar similar to the R1250R. Don't like that, although based on some of the swaps some would.

UPDATE - The pictures from Motorcycle.com show both the R-style handlebar as well as the clip-on style ... in pictres right next to one another - see below. And the same picture has a different windscreen that none of the other pictures has. Huh I will take all these pictures with a grain of salt and wait for real reviews.

UPDATE x2 - Rider Magazine said that the tubular handlebars are optional, and that is new on the 2023. Prior to that it was not optional but an owner had to retrofit it.

Yes the Sport screen is one of the displays on the TFT and we have that on our 2022 bikes.

Not sure what you're seeing with different windscreens. All the pictures I've seen so far show the same screen, some tinted and some clear but all the same shape.
I like the looks of tubular bars better than the cast bar mount we have now.
The tubular bars are wider and higher. I would like wider but may not like higher. We've had S and RS bars since 1991.

The 2023 RS is up on the BMW USA site if anyone wants to play around with the Build Your Own page.

I heard there was going to be a new screen, but didn't see that in the video. The configurator is up and there doesn't look to be a different screen, or the option for a different one. Tubular bars are an option at £110 in the UK.

Awhile back someone noticed the specs for the 2023 showed the height of the bike was slightly taller.
Someone guessed that meant a new windshield.
The spec may have been a misprint or the measurement was taken with the shield mounted in the upper holes.
