It appears that the RSWb Forum had crashed for a few hours and I managed to repair the database that was causing the issue (I hope). Anyway, I don't expect that anything was lost.
Please let me know if post you made within the past day or so is missing. Otherwise, on with the posting!

Website and Forum Were Down |

Since late last night until not too long ago the RSWasserboxer website and Forum Community were down because of some issues at the web hosting service.
Fingers crossed it is back up now for good. I will be looking for some credit from them for sure. Just wanted to let you know in case you attempted to access, and it was down (and you wondered if my RS Forum was going to disappear ...)

I, and at least one other member, noticed that Tapatalk was not working since the upgrade was completed. Posts had no content other than images.
That has now been fixed. AAMOF this post is being generated from Tapatalk.

RSWB Forum Maintenance is now complete!! |

RSWB Forum Maintenance is now complete, and all appears to be working as expected. Time for a ride!
The software still has a similar look and feel and that is a good thing. There are many new features in this version and you should feel free to explore and become familiar.
One new feature worth mentioning here is the quoted text in a reply - the default is to hide the HTMP markup codes. This means that it is easier to edit the quoted text accurately (and not have partial codes showing!)
Another feature is the navigation hierarchy at the upper left of each page - makes for a cleaner overall look and makes it easier to jump around and also to know where you are in the Forum Community.
Good news is, it all continues to be in English!
Issues that have been fixed:
- All features that used to work before the PHP upgrade, but then were then broken after the PHP upgrade and before the Forum Software upgrade, e.g. Reply, Search, "View New Posts", "View Today's Posts", etc.
- Multiple quotes in replies (which was not working all along) is now working [note - the icon has changed slightly to a plus sign (+) with a callout"]
While I was at it, I made a few immediate changes. These include:
- User Location is now required at registration, and is displayed in the header of each post.
I will be making additional changes and improvements over time and these will be announced here.
Any major system events such as upgrades etc. will be done in the same way that this one was done - advance notice in this Forum a few days before, and a system down notice for the duration that Forum Community is down., and all appears to be working as expected. Time for a ride!

Forum software upgrade is underway |

Just wanted to advise that I got a notice from my host that they are intending to upgrade the PHP software on my server between May 10 - 14, 2022.
Based on their recommendation I went ahead and upgraded my server's PHP version to 7.4.28 and that went smoothly - I thought.
I noticed some of the features such as "View New Posts" and "View Today's Posts" don't seem to be working for me. I have also got some other warnings as well. I will be working with Customer Support to try and work these issues out before actually upgrading the Forum software.
If you are having issues, please reply to this thread.

R1200RSForum.com appears to be back up |

I just checked again for the umpteenth time over the past couple days and it appears that the other forum is back up. At least until domain Registry Expiry Date: 2022-05-07.
No announcement on that Forum was observed so I have no way of knowing what is going on. No one contacted me either. At this point, I am contemplating stepping away from that Forum myself, and focusing instead to my commitment on this one.
Unless I get run over by a bus, you can count on announcements on this Forum as to any forum operational changes.

Welcome to R1200RSForum.com members (and any other new members too!)
Many of you may not be aware but this Forum was setup about the same time, but just shortly after the R1200RSForum.com, in response to the [similar] crashing of the R1200RSForums.com. The Admin of R1200RSForum.com (Holger) beat me to the punch in setting up his forum since I was also designing the RSWasserboxer website at the same time. That website was, and remains, the parent of this Forum Community.
The structure of this forum is pretty similar to both the R1200RS forums but maybe the focus is a little bit different. Greater focus is placed on RS content and staying on topic is always to be borne in mind. Of course there is the "Off Topic" forum for other stuff, and also a forum for "Other bikes" for exactly those other bike discussions.
This more focused approach stemmed from my personal desire to have RSWasserboxer.com to be the primary go-to site for useful, easy to find information about what is perhaps the least known BMW motorcycle these days - our lovely RS. I was frustrated when I was about to buy my RS in that I could barely find any information on the bike. I tried to set that right with RSWasserboxer.com. Forums are excellent sources of information, but if you are sort of impatient like me, you want to get to "the meat" PDQ, hence my focus for this Forum Community. Descriptive thread subject titles and staying on topic, is my motto!
Lastly, in this Forum Community, the sharing of DIY works on your own bike is encouraged and enjoyed. Tell us what you did / discovered / did ... and do include photos too (although they need to be less than 1000 pixels wide to prevent side scrolling on most screens - hate side scrolling ). Also, if interested in contributing an article to the RSWasserboxer.com website, contact me - it is easier than you think! See what some members have posted, with many thanks!.
So again, welcome! I don't want to make this post any longer as I would think you are more interested in going to explore the various forums in this Community. Enjoy!
Administrative Note - Please do check the Rules before posting. It is a very short list of 11 items (so far).

The Facebook page for RSWasserboxer is being taken down |

The Facebook page for RSWasserboxer is being taken down. The following is the reason just posted.
===
Due to the Facebook CEO’s response to the tweet from the President regarding supporting looters, this page will be removed. There will be no ad revenue to Facebook from me.
Looting is a crime and is illegal and cannot be tolerated. But it must be dealt with under the law. Issuing threats as in the tweet is unhelpful, and to turn a blind eye as the Facebook CEO has done, is unacceptable.
Protesting is a right for all people and they are not the same and must not be lumped together, especially by those elected to serve all the people. The tweet was irresponsible and that should have been the declaration by the Facebook CEO.
If you are still interested in the liquid-cooled RS you are invited to visit the website of the same name as this page, and to participate in the motorcycle-focused forums.
