Staunton VA area ride routes suggestions?

Hello all. We (me, Amy & my buddy Matt) are traveling to Staunton VA in another week to meet up with some other friends to ride in the area and near by WVa. Looking for ride suggestions from those who may live in the general area or have been there or in North Eastern WVa enough to pass along some good ideas.  We've spent a fair amount of time riding throughout the Smokey Mountains in NC, TN and Georgia so technical rides are just fine. TIA for input.

Hwy 39 SE of Goshen up to Marlington WV is good.

Humpback Bridge west of Covinton WV on 60.
   

Falling Spring Falls north of Covington. 220 north out of Covington has nice sweepers.

If you're on the Parkway, not too far south of you is a interesting footbridge hanging under the Parkway that leads to a old canal on the James River.
It's near the town of Big Island.
   

   

20 more miles south on the Parkway is Peaks Of Otter and a good place to stop for ice tea.

Thanks Lee. We're really looking forward to the trip, followed in late June with another visit to WVa for the "Unrally 2022" in Canaan WVa. Looking to be a good summer of riding.

So many good roads--almost too many to list. Some great ideas already. If you're into history, lemme know--many ideas of perhaps things you might not normally see. Here's a ride south and east of Staunton (STAN-tn in parlance here ) that's great. Definitely some good roads--takes in Appomattox Court House, Brookneal for the Drug Store Grill for lunch, and Robert R. Moton Museum as well. The ride from Tamworth to SR 20 south of Scottsville is as wonderful as it gets, too--especially the part west of US 15 on SR 652.
History Ride

another all-day loop would be to ride over the Ridge twice--once east on US 33, once west on US 211 (both GREAT roads), thence to the New Market Battlefield, and then around to Seneca Rocks and return by way of US 250 east...another great road. Stop in McDowell for a quick Civil War history thing and also at the top of the mountain at Fort Shenandoah.

On Mother's Day - I'll point out that the day originated with Woodrow Wilson - Staunton is home to his presidential library.

One of those areas where it will be difficult to get on a bad road.

Not there recently enough to comment on the state of the pavement, but I recall 678 has a few curves leading to the Mill Run, suspended bridge, swimming hole and cave.

That said, it's nice that it's all tied up into GREAT roads!
