I agree that cleaning the back of the windshield is made more difficult with the unit in the upper position above the dash, but for me that is the only downside. I have relatively short arms on my 5'-8" body and reach is not an issue. Eyesight is not so good either and I have no issues seeing my Nav VI (even while moving and quickly tapping on the screen to find the nearest gas stations or restaurants). The *big* plus for me is not having to look completely down on top of the handlebars. In that position the safest thing is to stop to use the unit.
