When/if they release the new speakers as an upgrade for the Bold, it'll come with a firmware update to add a sound profile for it. It'd be a more significant upgrade than moving from the Bold's pack-in speakers to the upgraded 45mm drivers. Wait to see more head to head reviews of microphone and audio comparisons once more people get Edges and can hook up Edge to Edge and report if and by how much it sounds different.
I moved to another country to do IT and audio engineering for a while, and I'm a licensed ham. Sound is important to me too.
