Wunderlich handlebar conversion question --

Hi all -- new member here.  I have a new-to-me 2023 R1250RS.  I have installed Helibars risers, and next I will be purchasing the Wunderlich handlebar conversion kit.  I test drove an R1250RS a month ago with Heilbar risers and a GS tubular handlebar, and it was close to perfect for me.  It appears to me that the rise/width/pullback of the Wonderlich and OEM GS bars are at least similar.

Will I need Wunderlich's hydraulic line extension(s), given that the Wunderlich bar is being installed on the Helibar risers?  If yes, should I pick up line extensions for the clutch, the brake, or both?

My RS came came with the R bar conversion setup. It was still a little lower and further forward than I wanted, so I added the 1 inch up and back riser kit the PO included. With that setup, the clutch line was a bit tight at full handlebar right turn. I was able to move the line out from the wire guide and it gave just enough travel. I'm guessing with he GS bars you would need some extension to the line. You could get a longer line (guessing the GS line would work) or there is a hydraulic line extension piece that add 4 inches of length you could try:  https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Connect...127&sr=8-2

If you do it, please post some pics- I am thinking of changing bars to get another inch or so higher and further back as well.

Hi all, only recently purchased a 2020 R1250RS:

I saw the reference to the Wunderlich conversion bar:  When I go to the company's website, they list two versions of the handlebar (see attached figure):

1) Handlebar conversion - Tube Style bar at a cost of $474.95

2) Comfort Handlebars (Pre-drilled) at a cost of $319.95

Read the specs and not clear what is the main difference between the two.  Also, I would think that No 2 (Comfort-Predrilled} would cost more than the non-drilled one it saves work and such...


Any of you have direct experience with either of the two versions of the handlebar?

You'll have to call Wunderlich tomorrow to confirm, but I believe the difference is the more expensive version comes with the upper handlebar clamps.  This version is for replacing the standard non-tubular handlebar (which does not have upper clamps), and the lower cost version is for bikes ordered with the optional OE BMW tubular handlebar (and hence already has the upper clamps).

For pre-drilling, the bars are the same.  I installed the $474 version, which came with the pre-drilled holes.

Oh, I see that indeed makes sense!!!  Many thanks for clarifying!!

BTW, how do you like this Wunderlich handlebar?  I just ordered Helibar risers and waiting for them to come in, but I doubt these will provide much relief for the pressure I am experiencing on my hands and shoulders.  BTW, this past weekend I took a ride to a BMW dealer and there I saw a 2023 1250RS with the tabular handlebar. Was told it came like that directly from the factory.  But have to say when Isat on that bike I did not feel a tremendous change from the standard non-tabular handlebar that is installed on my bike.   

In any case while I understand it is all a personal matter/ergonomics I am still interested to hear wht you think of the Wunderlich bars you got and if you think the tabular version flows nicely with the overall RS shape and such.

I've got the black Wunderlich bars on my bike. They sorted the handlebar comfort issue for me and look good in black on the bike. As said above, they came with all the required fittings such as clamps. They are also of course predrilled.

I just bought a used 2022 1250RS in Feb and they had the Wunderlich black comfort touring bars on it with Heli bar riser and bar backs (1 ¼” rise and 1” setback) and the clutch cable was very stretched at full lock to the right. I changed them out to a Wunderlich 1” riser with no backset. Very comfortable for me and it eased the stretch on the cable quite a bit Tho it tighter than no riser at all.I also have a Sargent heated seat on it so I sit more upright.
