Connected Ride Nav unit & it's relocation

Just wanted to chime in that I had some luck with the Harnig GPS relocation mount and the new wider Connected Ride Navigation Unit from BMW.  There are two GPS cradle relocation mounts that I know of and the Harnig allows fine adjustment so it can be centered with the TFT display below it.  See photos of the rear.  Just loosen the 4 set screws and slide it either direction to center and adjust the angle to match the TFT.

A new update popped up when I powered it up again.  The highlights of the update displayed briefly and it was mentioned that you can now see the positions of up to four riders in your group, assuming you all have the Connected Ride app running of course.  They're trying and this is unique I would guess.  I for one love the unit and will be taking it on a 400 mile run in the next few days.

There are a few draw backs to the relocation . I've noticed increase vibration on other BMW's when located here . Also cleaning of the back side of the wind screen becomes difficult , and when sitting stationery typing in a new point of interest one is now leaning forward to reach the display. I was hot on this location till seeing in person and experiencing it over the handle bar location .

I guess if you have long arms and great eye sight the extra distance is not a issue .

Thanks I'll look for those symptoms.  My hand goes numb on my exercise bike at home LOL, and remember a little bit on my airhead GS, but I haven't noticed any at all on this bike. 

I installed the Puig Tour+ at the same time as this relocation bracket.  I'm 5'7" (and change) and found a vast improvement at the high setting of the lower screw-mounting position, and have moved it to the higher screw-mounting position for my upcoming trip to see if it's for better or worse.  It looks like I will still be able to see over it in the high setting. Hoping it works out to something like the electric screen on my old RT gave me in the cold or rain. 

I have been watching YouTube videos and hardly anyone has good centering of the navigation units with the TFT.  Even the BMW bikes that come with the cradle up in the windshield look out of alignment, because of the weird offset caused by the GPS prep mount.  At least this Harnig bracket gives us 1250RS riders perfect centering capability with a variety of Nav units including the slightly larger BMW one I have.  That would drive me nuts.

I agree that cleaning the back of the windshield is made more difficult with the unit in the upper position above the dash, but for me that is the only downside. I have relatively short arms on my 5'-8" body and reach is not an issue. Eyesight is not so good either and I have no issues seeing my Nav VI (even while moving and quickly tapping on the screen to find the nearest gas stations or restaurants). The *big* plus for me is not having to look completely down on top of the handlebars. In that position the safest thing is to stop to use the unit.

I had an issue. I am 6ft tall and when I mount the GPS I can't see the top of my TFT display. Drives me crazy, put it back on my bars. Plus the damn thing scratched my tinted windshield.

I used the Moto-Mate. I'm 6'3" and no issues. Scrapped the OEM screen for a V-stream. It comes with offsets, so there's no clearance issues.
