My other bike
#1
I enjoy the R1200RS for long distance touring and decent performance in the twisties. However, it's not the most nimble of bikes in my experience. For shorter trips and more spirited rides in the mountain curves I prefer my 2017 r nineT Scrambler. I bought it gently used from a friend who had upgraded to Ohlins suspension all around which, from what I am told, is a huge improvement over the stock suspension on the Scrambler. One of the funnest bikes I've ridden. If I ever have to make a choice of only having one motorcycle, this is the one I would keep.

Nice "other bike" to the RS. Completely different mission profile (naked roadster) and would be my approach if I were to get a second bike, and for much the same reason you mentioned (nimbleness). That you would keep it as the only bike if forced to make a choice, suggests that you are more a shorter distance rider and could give up long distance riding. For me it would be the other way around ... I'd have to have a bike that was capable of riding long distances at speed comfortably, and would take the comparative reduction in directional stability as a trade off. Wink

I like the matched fork spring covers, seat and hand grips on the R Nine T ... works for that bike. Tank bag fits in perfectly too.

What is that mounted on the right side of the seat (to balance off the left mounted mufflers)? Some sort of gas can?

Thanks Grumpy Goat. Totally understand your perspective. That's a Un1T Garage side pannier on the right side of the bike, also courtesy of the previous owner. They also make one for the left side but that would cover the nice Akropovic exhaust cans that come stock with the bike. Plus, the left pannier hangs off farther from the bike, which looks odd IMO.

Thanks. Yes, the _only_ bike I’ve owned where I didn’t feel the need to upgrade the exhaust.

Thanks Blackshirt. I've heard complaints about the suspension on the R9T but the guy I bought this from had Ohlins inserts in front and full Ohlins rear installed. This thing is a blast to ride in the twisties.
