Nice! I have the same pipe. Purchased under the same circumstances. I'm certain there is a mounting boss that's missing from your clamp. That's the other attachment point for the shield

Agreed. The mystery is, it was on the clamp when Steve had it but it must have fallen off somewhere along the way ,,,

That's a bummer and only adds to the frustration during the install. I agree that the instructions were not as clear as they could have been --- it took me a couple of attempts to get everything on correctly.

All that said, I'm sure you are pleased with the sound and some weight/chrome reduction.

I had watched the Hornig video before installing so I knew beforehand what installation entailed, not to mention that I had my stock exhaust off many times before. But when I did not find the nut on the clamp I looked to the instructions to see if I missed anything and there was no help there.

I am still getting used to the sound and I do like it. More crackling and popping too, it seems.

As for the weight savings, I forgot to mention these in the video, but including the pipe spool pieces, the weights are - Stock 9.4# vs Remus 6# for a savings of 3.4# of 36%. I weigh 209# when I, at 5'-8", am supposed to weight between 125# - 163# by one reference (Livestrong). So you can see where the performance gains lie.

As for looks - I had no real issue with the stock, but when you put them side to side, the stock can looks so "fat" even if much lighter than its size might suggest.

I wonder if this will allow you to remove the wheel without removing the muffler first?

If the angle upwards is different it is slight. What is more significant is the space under the muffler - that is much larger. So that means that after removing the lug bolts one should be able to tip out the bottom of the wheel and pull the wheel out. installation would be the reverse, and with the wheel mounting tool it would be even easier.

It certainly does. Also the badge on my heat shield is red whereas Dave's is not. Looks like Remus makes slight design changes from time to time. Speaking of heat shield ... I got my pipe clamp with nut today from Remus USA and will be installing this evening. I may post a picture on this thread and may include a measurement and ask Dave compare with a measurement of his own just to confirm.

I like your logo better ... suits a black / grey bike better.

Looks like you have the wrong muffler.
If yours had the longer hanger like Dave's, you would not have the gap on the heat shield you mentioned.

GG, if it makes you feel any better, my setup has an uneven gap as well. Maybe a little worse. I'll try to put up another pic today to better highlight this.

Here’s the better side shot. And one showing the bracket. There are slots where the bracket mounts to the muffler, allowing front to back adjustments. It could be that the pipe didn’t seat fully into the factory pipe. Also the mid pipe can rotate, changing that angle.

Dave, you are on to something right there. I did mount the bracket with the screws in the centre of the slots (as a starting point) but did not move the muffler w.r.t the bracket after that, since the installation of the heat shield was not going to happen the first time around due to the wrong clamp being shipped from the previous owner.

So yes there is some room to slide the muffler forward which would take up some of that gap.

No, the pipe is into the front end of the muffler as far as it can go, so the only other adjustment is the rotation angle.

Yours has a larger (but even) gap compared to mine, and in my opinion, the even gap looks better if there is to be a gap at all. I think that some jiggling of the muffler has to happen, now starting with the bracket. I may end up rotating and pushing the muffler backward to achieve the look of yours, since I am very doubtful that the heat shield will go fully into the front of the muffler. Luckily all this faff (as the Brits say) does not take much time.
