According to the folks at Motorcyclist, BMW filed for an M1000RS based on the double R engine with the state of California. This was the bike that was supposed to have appeared in 2015 instead of the XR.... Now let's see if they remember how to do a proper RS configuration without a boxer powerplant.

Very interesting ... that would be a very sweet bike. Hopefully it has backlit switches ...

Oh, that would be sweet. Almost an FJR. Get a little bit better protection on the front and support for luggage and I could be persuaded to trade in the boxer.

It would be a nice bike but his cowboy is not going back to an inline 4. Kawasaki has a very nice refined one at the moment.
