Visit to Öhlins USA
#1
While on the 2019 Ride In to Helen GA, a few of us went on a ride to Hendersonville NC to visit Öhlins USA (and Wunderlich USA), which Darrell had managed to arrange - thanks Darrell!

BTW - Öhlins is properly pronounced something like "EUH-lins" ... due to the "Ö". Smile

Matt at Öhlins gave us a very interesting talk on the Company and their products before taking us on a tour of the lab and facilities in Hendersonville. We did not tour the adjacent warehouse which supplies all of the Americas.

With regard to Öhlins and BMW, Matt noted that they do not supply factory-installed suspension on the current models due to the electronics integration (or lack thereof) since they prefer to keep their own suspension system components for consistency of quality and performance. That said, their website does show for the 2016 RS:
These are all non-electronic installations.

Any one of the others on that trip can of course chime in with details I did not mention.

That's a rough looking bunch, lol! I'll second the thanks to Darrell for arranging the 2 destinations. The nerd inside of me was in his happy place inside the Ohlins facility. The cleanliness and organization of the work stations was top notch. Very interesting "skunk works" area for suspension testing on open wheel, Nascar, etc. Matt was great.
The Wunderlich shop had a surprise. As in a full resto shop in the back for quite a collection of BMW rides. in various states of disrepair. I caught Kent drooling over the R90(?) in the showroom.
It was truly a pleasure to meet and ride with each of you on this local (to me) RS gathering.

Sorry I missed this. It hasn't been nearly that fun here at home.
