New Tires Being Installed on the RS

Here's a video. Sound is not the best but you can see the procedure.
I've seen it done with zip ties but straps look like a better idea.

Cool video. He certainly made it look easy. The straps are a lot nicer than zip ties. Actually I like his straps and need something similar to help tie my rim to the arms of the tire changer I have. The clamps on the rims seem to slip and a fried of mine who has a changer straps his wheel on and it does not move.

Does your BMW dealer sell the crating straps? I think, my dealer charges $1 for the cam buckle straps and $2 for the ratchet straps.
I knocked, but the door was open.......

When you get them free or cheap, you don't mind cutting them into short lengths.

Hmmmm ... I should ask. Is that what the guy in the video is using?

The straps BMW uses are white.

Yes, the BMW crate straps are white, but the functionality should be the same.

I have seen several comments lately about a worldwide rubber shortage that will lead to a shortage of tires (and other things) in 2022. Even though I have about 4,000 miles left on the current set, I ordered a new set of RoadSmart 4 tires, and have them tucked away for next year.

The Dunlop RS 4s are treating me well, and look to outlast the Roadtec 01s by at least a couple thousand miles, but I hope to require the second pair by December....
(I'm writing this from New Mexico; it's clear I have to put the heavy clothes on, and get back here in November..)

My first job when I graduated from college in 1973 was at a BFGoodrich rubber plant in SE Texas, the raw materials for the rubber were styrene and butadiene, both derived from crude oil. This synthetic rubber made in Texas was then shipped to Ohio where it was made into BFGoodrich tires. The sequence was: crude oil to a refinery, byproducts from the refinery to a chemical plant, and the chemical plant made the styrene and butadiene.

I see, with increased frequency, news article that indicate the supply chain problem is manpower driven, not raw material. A lot of people out of the workforce. Hey, that's me! I am retired and I am not going back to work.
