R1250RS Newbie
#1
It was suggested that, as riveting (or not) as the "On Order" thread was, it might be good to start another one for first impressions, Q&A, modification comments/reviews/questions, from the get-go, from a new 125RS owner.

Picked up the '22 Exclusive/Premium packaged RS this morning, got the lowdown and hit the road for the long way home 50 mile maiden voyage.
Have to adjust the shift lever up a couple of notches. Would occasionally miss a shift with the Sidi boots, but otherwise the gearbox is smooth as can be. No issues finding "N", no clunking into 1st, just like buttah.
The Wunderlich bars don't make you sit upright, but they ALLOW you to sit up and back (or the allow me to) if need be. It's all about arm length/reach, how long your torso is, etc., so this mod may be better or worse for some, I guess, from an ergonomic standpoint. Works for me, and, as I'm not at all used to clip-ons, it left me in familiar territory and low speed stuff is a breeze.
The Akra is a hoot, but won't get you run out of the neighborhood. We fired it up outside in front of about 5 guys and the reaction was instant and positive. I have no intention of tweaking it, as it seems more than fine as is.
This is also very specific to one's anatomy/measurements, but with the sport seat and the slightly more upright position afforded by the bars, the windscreen, in the UP position, sends the wind right at my upper torso/shoulders/neck, so I may turn sooner rather than later to a Wunderlich Marathon screen I bought from an owner in CT who was moving from his RS to an RT. More to come.
Lowered the pegs (Suburban Machinery), and it's still "sporty" to my nearly 64 year old legs, hip and knee joints, but in a good way. Yet, it puts you in a position that you're normally otherwise never in, so there will be some muscle/joint memory to work on, I'm sure.
XHeads, Mudsling, that's about it.
Eighth Time's a Charm. Best bike I've ever owned.

Looks good.
I like the looks of the tubular bars better than the OEM cast bars.
Did the shop relocate the GPS mount for you ?
Is it a Moto-Mate?

Your grass is green already. Ours is just starting to turn.

Thanks, GG, I'm happy with the way it turned out. I believe the new Akras for the RS only come in that color. I don't think they make the Titanium variant anymore.

I've mowed my lawn 3 times already!

Yes, shop did the Navi Relo, and Yes, it's the Moto-Mate mount. Once I figure out the whole Cradle/Connected App circuitry, I'll be able to evaluate further, but I'm just going to get to know the bike for a while.
The bars work for me all around, but some might not dig it. That's okay, accessorizing is for the accessorizer!

Thanks, Craig! Hope your Black Storm Metallic Beauty stays on schedule. Feel free to take over the narrative of its journey over on the "On Order" thread. It will be interesting to compare stories.

Thanks, appreciate it. Such a blast today and I'm just scratching the surface.

And, BTW, the centerstand works just like every other centerstand I've ever worked. Not understanding what some of the fuss is about...Undecided

Nice to see your dealer stepped when with RS #1 did not show up as you ordered and pushed along an order to get what you ordered and expected.

Enjoy. My preferred color in the 2022 lineup.

I was going to ask if you got the Akra from the dealer or from the factory. I thought all the cans shipped with the bike were brushed titanium and it was only if you bought it aftermarket would you get the black.

Me too. As much as my dealer has tried to placate my concerns, I'm still worried things will worsen and I'll be winding up getting my deposit back and flying out to wherever my bike is in stock and riding it back. I almost can't think about anything else right now -- I was getting obsessed over the fall and earlier this year but now that I've ordered it... I want it, nearly more than anything I've ever had to wait for in my life. Ugh!!

Worse things to wait for, 1st world problems, yada yada.

There's not much you can have the factory add on now.
Here's some of the stuff you can have added at the factory after selecting the Premium package.
Rear rack
Sport seat
Centerstand
719 stuff.

Nice work and good choices. Hang in there. I traded away my T120Black last October and my wait just ended yesterday. I, too, was scouting other dealers, but the bikes either weren't exactly right or were already sold. Keep the faith!

You're right, I looked at my order and centerstand was part of the premium package.

I take it the cases and Nav were shipped separate of the bike?
