I think I have sorted out my confusion and I will try out the same MRA rig as Grumpy Goat.
I will pass along notes on my experience after testing on my 1250.

Here is a picture from yesterday showing how the windscreen looks on the bike.

Sorry for going off topic .. is your TC a V46?  Do you ride two up?  Reason I ask is because that's my setup and I had to bring the backrest into a shop to have it shaved down.  My girlfriend was pushed way too far forward with the original backrest and just curious what your experience is.  Thanks!

I split off the topic to its own thread, named for the top case I have ... Givi V47 Tech colourway - link here.

I do have the Givi backrest and when my wife is on the back she is a bit close, especially on the RS. On the Tracer there is a bit more room. This video gives some idea of space available on the RS with that top case.

Thanks GG.. Once my backrest is shaved down I'll post a pic.. my GF was way too close to me to the point neither of us were comfortable so hopefully this will help. I actually contemplated a new TC that has more of a flat backrest but didn't see the value in the extra cost. I transferred this case from my FJ-09 and to your point, no issues there but the RS is a separate beast.

Adding this video to this thread--might be interesting to folks. Just got a Journey Designs interior bag for my Givi 46. Bag fits 45-59L top cases.

I finally got my backrest back from a local guy, he did an exceptional job shaving it down and looks fresh from the factory! I don't have an old pic with a similar view to show side by side but they were able to shave. nearly 2 inches off the original.

Looks like a good job. I should get the same done for mine, since its a tight squeeze on the RS when my pillion is on. When the top case is on the Tracer it is not a problem as there is more room.
