Round, Rubber and Rebates
#1
Last month I called the guy we buy tires from and told him we would need two sets of tires in July for a trip to Colorado.
Took our wheels to Cycle Clinic in Des Moines today. This is the place where we bought two new BMW K75Ts in 1988. Debbie's first bike.
No longer a BMW dealer but we keep going back to him for tires.
The new tires are Dunlop Roadsmart III.
After rebate each set cost $170 plus tax.

If you prefer the Roadsmart IV and a BMW MOA member you can get a free front tire when buying a back tire.
Revzilla sells the Rear Roadsmart IV for $209.

Also replaced the final drive oil while the rear wheels were off.

Agree, but if you can get the present Roadsmart IV set for the price of the rear tire at $209, I think that is probably a slightly better deal given the increased mileage and performance of the IV over the III. However, that RS IV deal is only till the end of July, for MOA members.

Yep it would only cost $30 more for the Roadsmart IV but I had already ordered the IIIs last month.
He did not have any Roadsmart IV tires on hand and I did not want to take the risk of getting IVs in time for a Colorado trip in a few weeks.

The $60 rebate ended yesterday and I have not checked if Dunlop extended the rebate for July.

I know you had ordered before the RS IV deal came out and I too am a fan of the RS III so aside from the present deal on the RS IVs the one you got on the RS III was, value-wise, the way to go. When I needed a front tire for my Tracer I got an RS III and have not regretted it.

I think Dunlop should not raise prices too much in competing with Michelin because, if there is not too much daylight between prices, people will choose Michelin. Dunlop's success lies in providing the better value, and it must be tangible.
