'20 left cylinder tick
#1
Left cylinder head on my '21 (2700 mi) didn't tick. My '20 does (6500 mi), at times most annoyingly. BMW redesigned the cam tensioner to address this in Q2 '21 and released it this May as part 11317108586, replacing 11319444423.

My local dealer 1) doesn't have service spots avail until late November, and 2) says it may take "multiple weeks" to perform if needed because of how complicated the procedure is. Said it would cost "multiple thousands" in labor if performed out of warranty. Due to "seals and gaskets and extra parts we may need to replace along the way".

WTF? Reading my ebay pirate 1250 service manual, it's about $100 in parts and about a half hour per cylinder (if that). I've reached out to dealers in Madison and Chicago to see if they can actually help me instead of screw me like my local dealer seems to want to.

Anyone else have this issue in a pre-'21?

Craig, so far my 2020 doesn't have that symptom. I'm at 9,200 miles.

I'm thinking that you need to get the bike in under warranty. I just bought the extra 4 years BMW extended warranty on mine since my initial warranty end date is 9/21/22.

My '20 is at almost 30K...should I be worried? Bought it in July 2020, so I'm out of warranty

3 years from the original in service date. Mine was 9/21/2019.

Looks like the actual fix for this takes all of five minutes (if that).

This really "ticks" me off at the way my local dealer treated me over this.
